When it comes to AWACS I don't see any new AWAC coming from China. It would be from Sweden. I can see now Pakistan buying SAAB Global Eye plus when Zardari visited NASTAP the breifing he was given mentioned Pakistan locally making an AWAC also.

I can’t see Pakistan buying the GlobalEye given that it has the Sea Sultan project going on aswell, there would be significant capability overlap. Pakistan may get more Erieye-ER transmitters and mission computers and integrate then onto the same platform as the Sea Sultan or another executive business jet if it wants more operating height for more range or even put onto more Saab 2000. Pakistan will want additional combat attrition replacements given how aggressively India will target these platforms in the future since PAF is sooo dependent on them for its war fighting doctrine. Pakistan is also invested in the HAVSOJ programme aswell. Globaleye tries to do all of these capabilities in one platform.

PAF basically told this in their own video. I would try to find the video. But they showed ZDK 03 and was written EW platforms I mean inducting new EW platforms. So no these are not rumors but part of plan to convert them into EW platforms.

Mr we have also bought weapons from other countries as well. Not everyone is giving us soft loans. We just bought 4 Tabuk class patrol vechiles were they on loans as well. Also China is not all on loan.

Can tell me how many BIG TICKET ITEMS like fighter jets/naval ships/subs/tanks/APC etc etc are bought from other than China? And all recent purchases from China are on the soft loans and very few items actually we bought from China on our $$$ when our economy wasn't in jeopardy (pre 2015) time period

as far as I know the poor performance of the ZDK-03 was the reason they were retired and now assigned to the electronic warfare unit with radars removed, China technology moved too fast

even KJ-500 AWACS is old now

now China has KJ-600 for Carriers and they could be useful to Pakistan Air Force

they have KJ-700 AWACS which is replacing the KJ-500

and also KJ-3000 AWACS with the Y-20 platform

so these should be considered with J-35

Our standard will remain Erieye for now. It's served us well. Plus we have a big number of them.

For our application, with KJ-500, current upgrades will come. We aren't buying 2010's KJ-500....... this platform will be good enough for Ten years technologically and then further upgrades may be needed.

Hopefully, we'd have something locally built by then also.

PAF adopted a unique strategy to get the jump on the French built Rafales who had the SPECTRA self defence system which is probably one of the most advanced systems in the World , Pakistan found a bypass

Chinese Military satellites picked up up the Indian Air Force movements , Erieye AWACS were sent airborne and they detected the Indian jets

information was relayed to J10CE via Link 17 which launched the PL-15 air to air missiles

point of note here, neither the J10CE ASEA radar nor the PL15s own seeker got any lock on the Rafales so the Rafale did not know they were being hunted down

the missile was fired and when it comes to around 5-10 seconds before impact the Pl-15 seeker is activated and to gives no time for the Rafale pilots to react even the SPECTRA couldn't see it even while being spoofing by DA-30 Falcons

this strategy required Erieye AWACS guiding J10CE + PL-15 missiles until J10CE and Pl-15 were in close proximity

not only did it work they downed 3-4 x Rafales

this whole thing requires integrated battle management system

it requires surveillance and radar jamming

Helicopters bought from Italy and Europe so does some Air Defense systems. Things will keep coming and you will keep questioning where the money will come from. You will never learn that I am sure about.

That is my guess and assessment. My just guess is we already have 9 SAAB 2000 we may soon get kits to upgrade the older versions to ER but when it comes to going for new one. I don't know how many new SAAB 2000 will like to have. My guess is now it would be Global Eye plus the locally made ones.

Witnessing the performance of Saab, PAF would eventually want more and more from this platform as new technologies come. I think we would eventually run out of space and engine power, and may have to switch to a jet platform whether we prefer it now or not.

Yaar what I know is that Pakistan in its doctrine considers 9 number of AWACS not enough not even close to being enough. So we would go for more AWACS. My guess is Global Eye plus local ones but I could be wrong here.
