That argument of "SM popularity" was permanently laid to rest on February 8th, 2024 when it became clear that the Awam is firmly behind Imran Khan.

And despite unprecedented levels of blatant and audacious rigging to deny him an absolute majority, Imran Khan's PTI still emerged as the single largest political party in Pakistan. Denying these facts doesn’t change reality; it only reveals your bias.

LOL. My bias? Well, consider your bias in ignoring this reality: Despite Feb 8th, IK is in jail for over two years as a convict, and Pakistanis seem to have shrugged their shoulders and moved on with their lives. The economy has not collapsed, Pakistan is not an international pariah, there is no mutiny in the armed forces and everything, messy as it always has been, is just the same as before.

IK's popularity and PTI winning the 2024 elections is one matter; the Army, with its guns, jailing him and blocking PTI from forming a government is another entirely.

And quite funny how your claim of the "Awam backing IK only a SM claim" has now morphed into ridiculing civilians for failing to halt a million strong, armed mercenary force from imposing it's will... Now that indeed is bias.

What is funny is your penchant for LYING in support of your cult leader. I have said that there is no evidence of widespread public support for him as is often claimed, that is all.

I am perfectly willing to consider the possibility that said widespread public support for IK exists, but only if there is some actual evidence of it, not just social media claims.

"Failing to halt" the military can be said only if there was a credible effort to actually do something tangible to show its support to begin with. Apart from a ruckus or two that was highly engineered by a select few characters, not much else has happened thus far.

I am still waiting to see what else might develop,, but there seems to be not much movement in this regard.

that IK won was also rigged, and he became PM by a stolen election from his predecessor in the exact same

it was rigged against him..

noon league was never a popular party always lost to PPP or PTI in real terms

Yes, it was rigged against IK, just as the one that put him in as PM was rigged.

You come by cheating, you go by the same cheating. Those are the real terms of such popularity.

Looks like you’ve completely lost the plot and resorted to personal digs in your frustration... honestly, I’m loving it. Keep the burn coming, sir...

LOL. It is okay, since my posts have always been polite and factual.

We can resume if and when there is something that actually moves in the story of IK's rise and fall. After all, the final chapter is still far from being written. Who knows what turns his story will take?

Since I can afford to be a mere observer, I have absolutely nothing vested in the outcome one way or the other. :D

Should the Fauji mafia be involved in this cheating or should they be on the border
fighting wars?

I have said this so many times already!

Cleary and unequivocally, the military should NOT be in a position of supra Constitutional authority to conduct illegal acts such as interfering with any political processes such as elections, and must do their Constitutional duties ONLY.

I have never, and will never support them in their illegal acts, but I will also always support them when they perform their sworn duties.

IS THAT CLEAR ENOUGH FOR YOU?!

Asking or hoping for, or directly or indirectly encouraging a mutiny within the armed forces is liable to get death penalties. Let there be no doubt about the seriousness of such a thing at all, in anyone's mind.
It is the only solution to Pakistan’s current impasse . No one wants it nor is anyone encouraging it but all I am saying is that if it is to happen it will happen internally

Taking out traitors from within is not mutiny, the Turks done and the Bolivians done it.

It is either do it the easy or go the Iranian way. Iran could not weed out the traitors
and got punished. The Bolivians arested their Army Chief for trying to do a military
coup but in British Indian Mafia all top level Generals are compromised. It is up to the
lower levels to do something.

Of course. The solutions to Pakistan's problems all lie within Pakistan, and only Pakistanis can solve them. Expecting any outside help is irrational and useless.

Yes but if you look any other revolutions there is always a foreign element. Khomeini was supported by France and the west as they were nervous about communist takeover. The bolsheviks were supported by Germany and possibly the US. in fact Lenin was in Germany and they let him go to Russia with full blessing. The orange blessing had US all over it, Recent Syria revolution was supported by Turkey and possibly US. I think the people have no chance against a brutal regime…they do need support from outside

A Faisalabad anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday sentenced National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub, Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul to 10 years each in prison in a case related to May 9 riots — which saw military installations being vandalised by mobs across the country in 2023.

In its verdict, the special ATC sentenced 108 individuals of the total 185 accused, which also includes Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) chief MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza, who has been handed 10 years imprisonment.

The court also acquitted former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi and Khayal Kastro in the May 9 case.

In the second case registered at the Civil Lines Police Station, the anti-terrorism court sentenced 28 out of the 32 accused and acquitted four individuals.

A total of 107 people were named in the case, of which 32 were tried. Among those acquitted are Fawad Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi and Khayal Kastro.

In another case related to the May 9 violence registered at Ghulam Muhammadabad Police Station, the court sentenced 60 individuals, while seven of the 67 accused were acquitted.

The court also handed down a three-year jail term to Junaid Afzal Sahi in the aforementioned case.

Reacting to the verdict, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan decried that a total of 45 years' sentence has been handed over to the party leaders in back-to-back judgements in three days.

"These decisions will destroy democracy," Gohar said while speaking to the media.

"The judiciary is seen with hope, but the people have become disappointed with it. There is still time to save this system," the PTI chairman said.

"We want the system to work, democracy to be strong," added Gohar.

Today's verdict comes days after PTI leaders Dr Yasmin Rashid and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed were awarded a 10-year sentence in May 9 case. The court also awarded sentences to former Punjab governor Omar Sarfraz Cheema, PTI leaders Senator Ejaz Chaudhry and Afzal Azeem Pahat in the same case.

Before that, Sargodha ATC sentenced Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Ahmed Khan Bachar, MNA Mohammad Ahmed Chattha and several other PTI workers to 10 years each in prison in May 9 vandalism case.

The back-to-back verdicts added to the legal woes of the former ruling party which formally launched its anti-government campaign a week ago, set to reach its "peak" by August 5, following the directives of the incarcerated PTI founder.

May 9 mayhem

The May 9, 2023, events refer to the violent protests that broke out in several parts of the country following the arrest of the PTI founder and saw attacks on public properties and military installations, including Corps Commander House Lahore, also known as Jinnah House.

The riots were triggered by the arrest of ex-premier Khan from the premises of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a graft case.

Several PTI leaders and workers were released on bail after their arrests, while many still remain behind bars.

The deposed prime minister, who was ousted from power via the opposition's no-confidence motion in April 2022, has been behind bars since August 2023 as he was facing a slew of charges ranging from corruption to terrorism.

Faisalabad ATC sentences Omar Ayub, Shibli Faraz and other PTI leaders to 10 years in jail

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Faisalabad on Thursday sentenced PTI leaders, including Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, Hamid Raza, and Zartaj Gul, to 10 years of imprisonment for their involvement in the May 9 riots.

On May 9, 2023, PTI supporters, protesting the party founder Imran Khan’s arrest, staged violent protests throughout the country, vandalising military installations and state-owned buildings, while also attacking the Lahore corps commander’s residence. Following the riots, thousands of protesters, including party leaders, were arrested.

Out of 185 PTI workers accused, 108 have been sentenced by the court today. PTI’s Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), Junaid Afzal Sahi, was sentenced to three years in prison. Meanwhile, MPA Khayal Ahmad Kastro, Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Zain Qureshi, and former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry have been acquitted in the cases.

Reacting to the development, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said the party will challenge the decision in the high courts.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad today, Gohar said: “We will raise the issue with PTI Founder Imran Khan on the future course of action regarding whether we should return to the parliament or launch a movement.”

He said that the “political cases against PTI members were baseless”, adding that the PTI believed in running the system instead of believing in extremism.

“We do not believe in violence or incitement in politics. Those who have been convicted today do not believe in politics of violence.”

The PTI, in a post on X, also decried the decision, saying the party’s leaders have been “unjustly targeted in the false flag operation of 9th May.”

In May, an ATC in Islamabad sentenced PTI members, including MNA Abdul Latif, to 27 years of imprisonment for attacking a police station during the May 9 riots.

In December 2024, military courts had sentenced 85 civilians to prison terms ranging from two to 10 years for their involvement in violent attacks on military installations during the riots on May 9.
