Trump Announces Major Pakistan Trade Deal, Vows Joint Oil Development/Exploration

We have always liked Pakistan, but if your words represent all of Pakistan, you better pray that the next India-Pakistan conflict will not lead the U.S. to abandon Pakistan. I am even more skeptical that without the China-Pakistan relationship, the U.S. would instigate an India-Pakistan conflict. Think about how the U.S. supported India during the recent India-Pakistan conflict.

How can they "abandon" Pakistan now

Compared to 80s/90s only small portion Pak Forces equipment is US

US gave no support to India during recent conflict, you seem very misguided here

Chinese financial help is over hyped .. it's few billion dollars of loan and we have to kiss Chinese butts for it's rollover.....cpec projects were way overpriced and we have already paid back most of the money along with exorbitant profits.
I really didn't expect that Pakistan just received a trade agreement from the U.S. and immediately denied China. I believe that developing relations with both China and the U.S. is in Pakistan's best interest, while you are trying to play one against the other between China and the U.S. We understand your relationship with the U.S. ...

Pakistan never played off China v US

If it had to choose China would always be first, that has been obvious for last 20 years to anyone, even US themselves have admitted it

That guy's words certainly don't represent even a tiny minority of Pakistan. But we are all entitled to our views.

Right. Pakistan had won China's trust decades ago. And maybe, just maybe, also winning some American trust. General Kurilla's lavish praise for Pakistan during this Testimony to the Congress a few months ago was very interesting.
Playing off in the sense of getting favorable trade deals is one thing but that's not the same as hurting vital interests of either China or America.
Which brings me to a recent report where the American officials negotiating something with Pakistan and right off the bat they said 'We are not even going to ask you to do anything against China'.

The reason I like Pakistan is that during the Wenchuan earthquake, Pakistan donated all of its limited tents and supplies to support China. Although it wasn't much, we are very grateful. There is a saying in China: 'to know gratitude and to repay it.' Although I encountered extortion from local merchants during my trip to Pakistan, I still understand that the friendship between our two countries is very important. I would never blame Pakistan as a country for the extortion I experienced in public; I believe that was an individual act. However, I think the grassroots relations between China and Pakistan should promote the relationship between the two countries and not be misled by some commercial behaviors. I hope that the trade agreement between the United States and Pakistan can promote Pakistan's economic development. If Pakistan develops well, it can also drive China's progress. Just now, that person actually insulted China's contributions and efforts. I hope he is not a decision-maker in Pakistan.

I am certain that China wants and needs Pakistan to be economically prosperous because that also helps China: China wouldn't have to keep 'rescheduling' Pakistan's debt, which has been happening a lot.
Similarly, the GCC Arab countries need Pakistan to stand on its own feet because they too have been bailing Pakistan out for a long time.

I think there is widespread consensus in Pakistan that India's role in the 'Contain China' scheme has failed.
And honestly however one can slice and dice and name 'Trump', it was even under Biden the cooling off of relationship began.

India has massively economically benefitted from its fake "contain china policy" with being able to add 3 x Pakistan economy to its annual GDP through this policy over the last 35+ years. That is alot of national wealth that India has gained from its sweet talking and fake promises ...

Before the courting of India started, the economic ration between India and Pakistan was 7:1 which fitted in with the population ratio, now it is 10:1 economically on a 7:1 population ratio ...

It looks like Pakistanis are falling in love with the US once again. But as @VCheng often says, there are no permanent friends or foes in international politics and the relationships are based on common goals and agendas.

We need to wait and see the outcome of this new found love by the Americans before jumping to conclusion. Let them reveal the trade deal and then we will be able to comment if this deal is similar to the one offered to India or any exemptions are given to us

On the contrary, Chinese help to Pakistan can NEVER be underestimated. We may do business with america and others to help improve our weak economy but China is like a brother to Pakistan for EVERYTHING they have done for Pakistan for over 75 years.

There is NO love for america here. It's just business. NOTHING more. Pakistan is just simply helping it's weak economy.

China is a friend but sometimes friends do act like jerks .... Chinese were getting arrogant and believed Pakistan has nowhere to go and is destined to be her bitch .... it's a wake-up call for china.
Man, you are paranoid in many cases.

Right. And where did India get the money from?? America and its allies like in the EU, the GCC Arabs, and maybe even from east Asia being part of the QUAD.
That's where the money lies! But stupid Imran Khan, a sitting PM of Pakistan, just to hold on to power, was in a public meeting directly blaming America for his ouster from power using fake, and dangerous claims. Did he and his followers think of the consequences???!! Makes my blood boil with rage that Pakistan had such a Goddamn stupid 'leader' and that so many 'educated' Pakistanis, especially the expats, fell for the charade hidden behind hollow slogans and dancing women!
Money lies in the America backed order and will be for a considerable time to come!
