So color television in Pakistan arrived, I think, in 1976. Initially, there were only very limited color shows and Pakistan had only one television channel: Pakistan Television (PTV). And rumor was the color tv causes eye cancer!!!
I think color broadcasts weren't the real problem compared to the cost of a color TV.
For instance in the US networks started broadcasting some events in color in the 1950's...however the cost of a color TV back then was insane...so few people saw it.
Around 1966 all 3 networks switched to color during "prime time" (8-11pm Eastern)
However again due to color tv's costs few saw it.
Color didn't outsell black and white ones until the early 1970s.
So likely the reason for color tv introduction in Pakistan ~1976 had to do with the price finally coming down.
