Safran and HAL jointly created an engine for the ALH helicopter called Shakti which is used for LUH, LCH and Medium Helicopter too will use it. So it's an established template.

Nope. Shakti was a varient of Ardiden 1 engine by Safran. Bit like saying SU-30MKI is co development of Russia and India.

Before that there was the cooperation for Rocket engines between Ariane and ISRO. (Viking engine that later evolved into Vikas engine)
