Pakistan Ordinance Factories - POF

Modernized G3 - [AK4D]
This is what a G3 can become....i wonder why cant we reduce wight in our g3s
I talked with some personnel who had participated in trials with the CW39 and they praised it as being rather easy to handle. However I have never received any feedback on the BW20

If they had spend those bucks on TOT of SCAR L/H or cz Bren or maybe MSBS Radon/Grot .... They could have solve the problems For the next 30 years...They should have made A replacement....A Replica At least of some good modren weapon ....

This is off topic but British Army is also undergoing its rifle replacement program under project called Grayburn to replace its long standing SA80 rifles with a new modern one. The SA80 is the standard issue bullpup rifle of British Army and is quite a controversial one with many issues that had been resolved with the latest version A3 in service now. However, the platform is old now.

Main contenders:
Beretta Defence Technologies (BDT): New Assault Rifle Platform (NARP), Sako M23
SIG Sauer: SIG MCX or the 6.8mm M7.
Heckler & Koch (HK): HK416 and HK433
Knight’s Armament Company: SR-16 and SR-25

Britain’s next rifle: Inside the race to replace the SA80

On the topic of infantry weapons, a few thoughts on Pakistan's replacement of G-3:

We have Salman sahib at the POF peddling his BW-20 (Battle Weapon 2020) variants which are nothing but an incremental iteration of the G-3 inducted in 1966.
The reality is that given the threat, the PA is just fine managing with G-3s, Type-59s and M-4s (latter for the SSG and LCBs). They have 7.62x51, 7.62x39 and 5.56 caliber production set up and feel these give sufficient penetration/stopping power and flexibility for now.

My own opinion is that the army's RoI analysis has not given it enough to want to spend upwards of $1-2B on this shift. This is because Pakistan will never buy these rifles off the shelf and would want to manufacture in house. In order to do that, the entire small arms manufacturing line would have to be upgraded with ToT. For you to want to switch, the existing systems have to be deemed ineffective and obsolete. I don't think the Army has arrived at this conclusion yet.

Given the constant stream of "sophisticated M-4s/NVGs are being used in terrorist attacks against us" narrative, I am puzzled why the Army is not negotiating with the Americans on getting co-production going with Colt et-al so we can get higher velocity weapons in the hands of the troops. Jordanians set a similar venture in 2022 (probably using the salana bakhsheesh they get from Amreeka).

Fundamentally, all of this comes down to the extremely low per-capita spending on our troops by the GoP/defense budget. It simply does not leave enough money for a significant upgrade to the kit/individual weapons allocated to troops. Fortunately, G-3 is still a very good system. We some good solid updates/modernization, it can give the army another 10 years of service.

There's a interview of CZ rep with local news during trials. He clearly mentioned; "they are ready for ToT"

I dunno for what reason they fumbled this opportunity
