H-1B visas must end’: Wife of US citizen shares plight of landing IT jobs

The key idea is "lowering salary threhold", the rest is just nonsensical rambling.

Once China completes the automation phase and secures long term energy supply and outcompetes everyone in any given industry, the Europeans especially will return to their pre-colonial, dark ages mentality because it will take them a half a day of work to afford bread for two meals a day.
Once Africa frees itself from the neo-colonial yolk and the French especially have to begin paying REAL wealth from their own pockets to purchase resources at the Real Market rates hey desperately need from Africa, they too will self-destruct socially/economically. Because once Africa frees itself completely from European control, the Europeans will have to then work a whole day just to be able to buy bread.

Just wait and see.
AI and automation will do away with a lot of the work force. Even my own company, across 3 of the 5 operational BUs, is investing heavily in automation. Had I not retired, I would be overseeing several automation projects.

Yes and I think we should all weep for the youngens--everywhere--until there is another revolution in industry/technology.
Thank God I am approaching my own modest retirement in a few years.

Maybe if we spent more time focusing on STEM and less on safe spaces and how to properly put a condom on a cucumber, we might be preparing the younger generations for the next level.

Or, focus on the trades. I know several journeymen in the trades who are doing VERY WELL in their respective trades. They are never out of work.

Can't dispute a word. But then what are the colleges for but to score chicks, frat and sororities, Spring Breaks, hoping to write off massive student loans, make connections--so the 'trades' are for the lowly, greasy handed losers. Hopefully, the reality is gradually sinking in...

In Canada, I am a Law Clerk.

My Resume looks like this:

1. B.A. Honours Political Science Degree
2) Law Clerk Diploma
3) Office Administration - Legal Diploma

Honestly, having spent some time in Pakistan in last some weeks and having spent hours with Indian travelers on flights to/from Pakistan, I have no hesitation in saying that Pakistanis are not only better looking ones but also don't stink as much and are more polite in social interactions. I know what some might say a 'small sample' but I think I am a very observant person--and a very curious one too: In just 3-4 hours on the transit at the Miami Airport last night, I had already struck several interesting conversations with total strangers at a bar near the departure gate. It is an insatiable curious nature.

But, yes, I do firmly believe Pakistanis are in general different from Indians which the larger world doesn't seem to realize except by avid travelers. Oh, while my 'immigration' last night at the Miami Airport lasted only about 30 seconds, the white dude, perhaps trying to trick me, asked the first question 'how was your trip to India?'. I said, 'No, I am coming from Pakistan via Qatar'. Haha!
Always a pleasure, never a chore, hearing your pearls on these pages. Glad you have had pleasant travels of late.

Still I went to a University and a Polytechnic.

Trades school, yeah. But still I think its better to go to university and a polytechnic for higher studies.

Academically, some people simply aren't cut out for higher studies. My grandson is one of those. He's not dumb. He just doesn't want to apply himself nor does his mother (who is also a teacher with a M.Ed.) push him to do better.

But, he's taken to automotive mechanics like a duck to water. He's now a junior in HS and is taking heavy diesel mechanic coursework at the nearby community college. He is also doing very well. If that is what he wants to do, we are not discouraging him. I've already given him a starter set of tools. If he sticks to it and as he gets more skilled, I'll start giving him the good stuff. I've lots of tools.

Good luck to you guys.

Still I am proud of my B.A. Honours Degree.

that kid has an entrepreneurial soul..

hands on varied experience with adventurism, can take him far.

hard work and bravery, are greater traits than intelligence, over the years what I have seen (which one acquire over time as experience accumulates)

have you seen that program, Cut Throat Kitchen by Alton Brown...
teaches how to connect hard work with adventurism to improve skill set

Good luck to you guys.

You should be. You worked hard for it. Just as I worked hard for my engineering degree then later a degree in Supply Chain Management and then of course grad school twice.

Have even suggested to him looking into the military upon graduation. Go into either a 13 or 35 series MOS (Marines) and he will learn a lot.

Oh congratulations, you seem to be a good student.

I don't think you understand my post.

Statistically, regardless of all other variables, if 70% of applicants are Indian, assuming everyone has identical skill sets
Are skill sets static?

and assuming an identical selection process that is free from bias, then 70% of successful applicants will be Indian.
Is the selection process meant to accommodate everyone on the planet?

For starters, the selection process is not always intended to hire the best candidate, as we define it.

If I am hiring for a job in Des Moines, Iowa, I will be biased towards someone with roots in Iowa.

If someone has Indians in their group and has good experience with them, they are more likely to hire an Indian over a Pakistani with everything else equal

Do you comprehend basic mathematics?

The "Indian tech expertise by genetics" is a simple scam.

Thanks. I did well in school. Rather enjoyed it even more so as an older student (early 30s) when starting to work on BS #2. One would not think a 10 year separation in age would mean much between me and the rest of the class. Oddly, it did as I had already been in the workforce for awhile and was still in the workforce full time while in the SCM program. That was one of the benefits of a flexible schedule at the time.
