Not from what I can remember and Pak leaders (all of them!) fly to Saudi many times every year. Very symbolic gesture I think, and wonder why....

Prime Minister Shahbaz Shariff's airplane Pakistan ONE was greeted by nearly 6 F-15's upon entering the Saudi airspace. It was then escorted by the Royal Saudi airforce jets all the way to Riyadh until landing.

Shahbaz Shariff went to Saudi Arabia by MBS's special invite in Doha yesterday. Some sources suggest talks about joint defense deal will take place with Pakistan military's bigger role similar to how Pakistan and Turkey are cooperating. More updates will be posted to the thread on further details as they come after the meeting.

"... and wonder why" indeed, although there isn't much to wonder about, I suppose.

The saudis, like the rest of the gulf sheikhs, are finding out their shinny western toys are meaningless against Israel and susceptible to kill-switches. Pakistan has been a security guarantor for these wealthy Shiekhdoms, even though Pakistan hasn’t extracted enough concessions in return.

Moving forward, there’s a high chance these Shiekhdoms plus Egypt will opt for J-35 buoyed by PAF’s strong showing with Chinese weapons against the Indian Air Force and to improve interoperability with Pakistan.

The little I know (it's still not confirmed officially) is that Saudia may be very interested in keeping a large contingent of Pakistani military there including our own weapon systems as well as investing into the Pakistani defense sector. They told me that Saudia has realized a parallel force needs to be in place. Eventually they want to forge defense ties between Turkey-Pakistan-Saudia.

You can now imagine what that means logistically as Turkey is working on KAAN, ANKA, Kizilelma and Pakistan is working on getting the J-35 as well as wanting to turn PFX into a single engine stealth platform if funding can be sought. Win win for all if it becomes real.
