Yes, but a BAE/TAI bid where the Brits are able to customize the avionics to their liking is more advantageous, it can even be offered as an EJ200 engined variant. That way you are offsetting your purchases by production from your own domestic industry. The Italians cannot offer something similar. Turkey already beat the M-346 in the Spanish bid. It makes all the sense in the world IMO, the only reason I think it comes up short is as the tweet says, it being a political decision.

The chatter on UK defence forums is that Italy/Japan/UK are looking to create a standardised interoperable training pipeline for GCAP and a common M-346 syllabus would be part of that pipeline.

Anything can happen, but i think the odds are low for Hurjet.

Our primary goal is to fly 3 KAAN prototypes in 2026.

We plan to begin initial serial production of KAAN in 2027

Very aggressive timeline but low rate production is very possible by 2027/2028.

The KF-21 went from first flight in 2022 to introduction projected for 2026 next year.

KAAN flew in 2024, so 2027/2028 is doable. 2027 would be awesome in beating expectation though, if they manage to pull it off.

S.Korea has even F-35s and N.Korea lacks modern Fighter Jets
still they went to low rate production phase within 4 years

The first batch of 20 KF-21 Jets expected to be delivered between 2026 and 2027

on the other hand our NATO ally USA blocked sale of F-35s to Turkiye and even Greece will pose a threat with F-35s after 2028

Turkiye urgently needs KAAN
Low rate production will start in 2027 and The first batch of 20 KAAN Jets to be delivered in 2029

After 2029, TAI will produce 2 KAAN per month ... ( 24 KAAN annually )

Kaan subsystems are being tested on another platform, Global 6000 jet. It is said radar was on it. i believe other systems too, otherwise there is no time to catch that schedule. only problem is the engine, when jews are talking to attack Turkey how can we get F110 engines? this is the question .

Because South Korea also faces China, right next to it.

lol-level estimation from professor hyperman?
I think "professor hyperman" is right. :)

If I've figured out the Chinese mindset at all, and I think I have, they won't invade South Korea directly. Instead, they'll prop up Fat Kim and his army and have them do their dirty work.

That's a possibility, but South Koreans fighting Japan instead of a PRC-NK alliance is ridiculous

He is right, though. The South Koreans hate the Japanese more than anyone else.
Feeling are mutual for both, but they're allies out of necessity. They have a giant next to them.

South Korea has a significant amount of things it sells to China. And South Korea has massive grievances and territorial disputes with Japan. The US alignment cover up a lot of the tension under the surface from WW2.

And yet,if war breaks out,it will probably be China/NK vs Japan,South Korea,Taiwan,USA. Although...there are certain prophecies by Russian elders and eldresses about China taking over Siberia instead.

They literally try to sabotage KAAN. They are aware that we will encounter challenges in financing F16s, Eurofighters, and KAANs simultaneously. Should they present us with F35s at a future time, it may impact the funding of the KAAN project at that time, too.

The US is aware that Türkiye is at a turning point in the longterm and they try to delay the Turkish transformation.
