Where did you find AECC confirms only one WS 15? It is Deino who asserts that

There is not a single word mentioning "the first prototype is using it" or "already all J-20A prototypes are being tested with that engine" ... in fact the last sentence is a claim, a projected hope for the future, namely that "The engine is designed to power the later variants of the Chengdu J-20 stealth fighter jet."

Interesting is, if you check the few images available, only no. 2052 has the WS-15 and all others not! So again you just overinterpret what you would like to read from a future prospect as a given fact for today!

You are funny! The first prototype already flew in 2022, so this statement is barely valid for the first one! No. 02 aka 2052 flew in June 2023 and as such is related to thsi post, but since all others flew later again without the WS-15, how could this report know that there are maybe issues and all later prototypes needed to use the WS-10C2?

So in summary: Now, who do you believe, the AECC official claiming something in early 2023 that is at best very much vague or a well-founded post in a Chinese forum by a credible poster who gets his information via the most credible guys on Weibo or you, a confirmed fanboy who doesn't care about facts or chronological order, who regularly posts BS simply because it fits his worldview but contradicts all known facts and can NEVER admit to making mistakes? Well, as I expected, you confirm the insider tip is a so-called credible guy from Weibo. And spread out by the Sinodefence crowd. Now, who is this credible guy? Does he has a name or title?. The official AECC has a name and title

So is Deino the final arbiter on all China-related defense technology? As long as I don't see an official statement, I don't believe it. AECC official clearly stated there is no issue with the production of WS 15

Zhang Yong, project director at AECC’s Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, said during the Seventh China Aviation Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (CAIEC) in mid-March that from the institute has “addressed all bottlenecks” associated with the production of the WS-15 engine.

“The mass production of WS-10 and WS-15 [engines] delivery has been achieved. Materials screening and verifications have been finalised,” said Zhang. The event was documented by state-owned broadcaster to China Central Television (CCTV)

According to Zhang, indigenous advancements in metallurgy and production techniques have enabled the reliable manufacture and supply of super-high temperature components – such as single-crystal turbine blades, superalloy discs and rings, and fasteners – necessary for advanced propulsion systems.

Show us the picture of OTHER J-20 equipped with WS-15 then? And you think testing the WS-15 on J-20 is that easy?, It takes years to tweak/adjust/perfect aerodynamic forces with WS-15 like Thrust to weight ratio/lift to drag ratio with WS-15's own thrust to weight ratio as well as center of gravity and center of pressure with the new engine (WS-15)

WS 15 has been in development for over 20 years. There were setbacks and disappointments along the way due to the lower industrial base at the time.

However, in the last few decades, China has significantly strengthened its industrial base and achieved breakthroughs in single-crystal blades, Hollow blades, and blade cooling. CNC machining, coating, etc. Notice the certification of a bunch of GT engine WS20, WS19, WS 10A, B, C, WS 21. AECC essentially confirms that WS 15 is certified and ready for production. It has been tested since 2023. So there is no question about the engine.

They may encounter difficulties scaling up WS 15 production line. It is normal. They have more than a year to sort out all the production bugs, etc., as of today, 2025. It can be assumed safely that they have started LRIP or mass-produced WS 15 by now. So not a whole lot of engine available! Even Jane acknowledged this.

How is this even possible? You have a wave of 100 jets coming towards you. So I'll tell my J-20's to only go after the F-35's that may be behind the first formation and when barrages of BVR missiles will be fired at each other from significant long ranges like 100 of kilometers. In these large battles no one will have the time to properly direct planes towards a specific jet. It's that simple.

J-16 would be shot within a few hundred kilometers of leaving the Chinese ocean belt. The only aircraft that will be able to penetrate into American defense around Guam, will be the J-20's. There is not one person who knows the capability of each side will tell you differently. J series aircraft are flying coffin for long range strikes. Their large radar signatures gives them away the moment they go airborn. You know this too. J-20's and J-35's are the "special forces" of the Chinese military. To cut enemy's supply from behind so the mission happening 500-800 Kilometer ahead diminishes in capability immediately, is the job of these special mission aircrafts.
