Invest in these athletes. They will bring much more glory to Pakistan than this cricket bakvas.
Revive hockey, squash, boxing, MMA...i.e., real athletic sports.
I would include Cricket if our team played with grit (regardless of losing). When there is no fight left in the dog, its a betrayal of fans.

Hockey has too much state interference.
Sadly the only sports Pakistanis can make it in are individual sports where they rely on themselves, of which combat sports are prominent.
Cricket is terrible and a parasite on resources.

Yeah, man. Miss the legends- Kalimullah, Samiullah, Hassan Sardar, Akhtar Rasool, Shahbaz Ahmed- where have they all vanished?

Regards

Load of tripe! They also lost regularly and spectacularly while PM Khan and Rameez Raja were running the PCB. Don't forget. The performances were/are dismal and the problem starts and ends with the players.
In every other sport, the individual sportsman or the team takes responsibility for their own shortcomings. Not PCT? Why the hell not?
People, for their silly petty politics, keep coddling these goddamned players who are consistently putting a dismal performance on the field by blaming the "cronies", and bringing politics into the PCB.

It is as simple as 11 MEN, handpicked from a nation of millions, going up against another 11. No more, no less. This isn't Pakistan going up against a 4x larger adversary with a lot more resources. It is the same practice, same facilities, same data-based analysis, same international tours, similar coaching and leagues, and same domestic and foreign playing. Yet absolute shit show on the field. Every single time!
It is hightime the responsibility is placed upon the team of these non-performers. If you insist the problem is with the system then ban the PCT from playing International cricket altogether till the problem is solved.
Clearly, neither IK, Rameez, nor the current administration have had a clue.

I firmly believe that if the same resources were given to PHF, Squash and Boxing Federations, a much more gritty and competitive set of athletes would be representing Pakistan winning for the country. But like dunces, the entire nation is fixated on a team of losers whose standard of play keeps on going down.
Sir Ji, no system in Pakistan, and this is no a new discovery.
It also takes some time for the system to completely crash down.
Hockey took it's time to crash. It started in late 80s and early 90s. When no stadiums, and no schools grounds..who will play hockey?.squash was the results of personal achievements of hashim Khan pedigree. Jan sher Khan was his own legend.
There is a big skills gap between Pakistani cricket players and other nations that means, bad system, bad selection, bad management.
NS appointed sethi, zardari appointed zaka ashraf to reward for services ....naqvi is fauji tout.
I also think ramiz was a failure.

Pakistan, at one time had best Squash players in the world. Hockey team was also at the top.
I don’t know, where have they vanished.
The main reason for this region (SE Asia) not doing well is culture of sifarish. It is most populous part of the world but see the number of world beaters we have.
Must be the lowest per capita, compared to any other region of the world.

Sohail Abbas, more recently, was the other one to add to that list!

India and Pakistan had a very feisty hockey rivalry. I always wondered why cricket, in general, captured so much more media attention in both countries, when hockey is the more creative sport.

oh man what a sight it was used to be, watching the drag-flick power of sohail abbas.......our penalty corner specialist.......ball used to wizz past goalkeepers with such speed, almost unstoppable (some were even scared to be in the way).

Miss those glory days.....

I recall one Olympic fixture where he scored - possibly - a hatrick from penalty corners against GB, which we dismantled them 8-1 overall.

Unimaginable nowadays.

Sohail Abbas was a great PC specialist no doubt. But you should have watched Hassan Sardar and Kalimullah Khan weave their runs with the ball on their sticks. I suspect you are a fair bit younger than me.

Fair point. But the goddamned cricket has ALL the support. Everything this bloody country does is to support these good for nothing cricketers.

No money for Hockey, Football, Squash and Boxing yet Cricket gets its funding. It has its own league. These useless bastards playing on PCT are having a ball making millions in the PSL and then show up like cowardly bastards when it is time to play for the country.

To your last point, Ramiz was appointed by IK so even a comparative analysis under various governments is a moot point because these cowards on the team simply don't show up. So at one point, someone needs to ask these players, why are they not showing up when it matters instead of blaming the board all the time.

@Blain2

Let us be fair. In all countries where both cricket and hockey are big sports (IND, PAK, OZ, GBR etc) cricket has beaten hockey in terms of revenues and general popularity. Obviously, organisers of cricket boards globally have done something right which has led to this state of affairs.

Disagree.

It is mostly to do with the junior sporting structures in the western commonwealth nations, mostly following the British system.

In GB, Aus, RSA etc, cricket is the standard summer sport, while rugby or football are the standard winter sport.

Hockey is a winter sport but no school that I know of prioritises hockey over either football or rugby.

If children are mostly exposed to cricket, rugby and football, it follows that these will always be more popular than hockey.

I was probably a child back then, haha......but I did watch the amazing Shahbaz Ahmad in my teenager years......there were many with him in those days,
Then sohail abbas and the dutch coach Oeltmans revived some part of Pak hockey

We definitely need more attention and money spent on the hockey than cricket

This was fixed match where Indian made billions and Pakistani made millions.
Sir jee, ghussa na karo. It was not a fixed match. There is no harm to admit that Pak team was much inferior if compared to the Indian's.

Matches are not won just by emotions. A win requires excellence, dedication, and fighting will.

Pak players in all their matches against India were visibly under-pressure, playing defensive, and showing little will to fight. This Pak team is a mentally defeated team.

There has been grouping and intriguing in the Pak team in recent past. Unfortunately, no full-time PCB chairman, who could streamline its affairs, was available to this team for years now. Mohsan Naqvi must be removed from the PCB and a professional, dedicated, and full-time chairman must be appointed.

Teams get prepared by making strategies before every game. All heads in the team, coaching, and management sit together a day or two ahead of the game, discuss the strengths and weaknesses of every single player of the team they will face in next couple of days, and then make the balling, fielding, and batting strategies of how to knock-out that opponent player. Roles are assigned and practiced before the actual encounter.

This whole silly crowd of coaching, playing, and management have proved themselves utterly incompetent in all these aspects. All the coaching and management staff must be kicked out to build a fighting Pak cricket team.

Since we are talking apartheid, should we not be discussing the 200 million, potentially that many.....dalits

This is the only outstanding global civil rights issue that needs urgent attention - dalit rights.

It affects hundreds of millions, it is pernicious and you will find it globally from silicon valley, to the UK to all over India.

@Dalit @PAKISTANFOREVER @hussain0216
