A Google Search 'NY Times Trump Spheres of Influence' came up with some AI generated content and a link to this from May 2025. Behind a pay-wall so posting here. While May 2025 seems so long ago with rapid changes, I find more analysts saying that Trump is moving away from aggressively confronting China, which could only be good for Pakistan!

For President Trump, anytime is a good time for deal-making, but never more so than now with the leaders of China and Russia.

Last week, Mr. Trump said he wanted to normalize commerce with Russia, appearing to lessen the pressure on Moscow to settle its war with Ukraine. And he is trying to limit the fallout from his own global trade war by urging China’s leader to call him.

“We all want to make deals,” Mr. Trump said in a recent interview with Time magazine. “But I am this giant store. It’s a giant, beautiful store, and everybody wants to go shopping there.”

Mr. Trump may have something even bigger in mind involving Russia and China, and it would be the ultimate deal.

His actions and statements suggest he might be envisioning a world in which each of the three so-called great powers — the United States, China and Russia — dominates its part of the globe, some foreign policy analysts say.

It would be a throwback to a 19th-century style of imperial rule.

Mr. Trump has said he wants to take Greenland from Denmark, annex Canada and re-establish American control of the Panama Canal. Those bids to extend U.S. dominance in the Western Hemisphere are the clearest signs yet of his desire to create a sphere of influence in the nation’s backyard.

He has criticized allies and talked about withdrawing U.S. troops from around the globe. That could benefit Russia and China, which seek to diminish the American security presence in Europe and Asia. Mr. Trump often praises President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and Xi Jinping, China’s leader, as strong and smart men who are his close friends.

To that end, Mr. Trump has been trying to formalize Russian control of some Ukrainian territory — and American access to Ukraine’s minerals — as part of a potential peace deal that critics say would effectively carve up Ukraine, similar to what great powers did in the age of empires. Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin spoke about Ukraine in a two-hour phone call last week.

“The tone and spirit of the conversation were excellent,” Mr. Trump wrote on social media.

Monica Duffy Toft, a professor of international politics at Tufts University’s Fletcher School, said that the leaders of the United States, Russia and China are all striving for “an imaginary past that was freer and more glorious.”

Pakistan is already replacing Egypt in Arab and islamic world for sure and its a good development. Egyptians cannot fight anymore like a tired oldman.

While the GCC Arabs could be accused of being 'decadent' from their riches, Egypt is 'decadent' despite being poor! LOL!

Netanyahu today threatens new attack on Qatar, despite Trump urging no new attack.

Why worry? Qatar has gifted Trump a 400 million$ civilian jet plus hundreds of millions of dollars of investment. Moreover, the NATO state Turkey backs Qatar with strongest words in the globe.

Qatar has nothing to worry about.

Top military advisor says Iran should join Saudi-Pakistan defense pact for regional cooperation

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi

Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi, senior advisor to Iran’s Leader, said in a televised interview that Tehran should actively pursue participation in the pact, which Islamabad has indicated is open to additional members.

He suggested Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Iraq could work toward a collective security arrangement, while noting that external influence, particularly from the US, remains a downside in such agreements.

Reflecting on Iran’s 12-day conflict with the US-Israeli alliance in June, General Safavi clarified Iran had launched more than 500 long-range missiles during the fight and shifted the balance of power after initial setbacks.

He acknowledged weaknesses in air defense and intelligence but asserted that international assessments viewed Iran as having achieved victory, since Israel failed to meet its objectives.

General Safavi emphasized that Iran is working to rebuild its defensive and offensive capabilities after the conflict, pledging to strengthen deterrence across military, technological, and intelligence domains.

He underlined that national unity, public resilience, and government management during the conflict contributed to Iran’s performance.
I like general Rahim Safavi. But what he is asking for doesn't sound logical.

Iran doesn't need to involve Pakistan in its fight against AngloSaxon front. Pakistan's support in the shadow is enough. No need to engage them with Israel directly.

Israel is already surrounded despite the NON stop US support. Iran can count on geographical advantages to counter Israeli threat.

KSA needs Pakistan to stop any American misadventure. Since USA won't give a shit if Israel annexes north of KSA, even if MBS announces Trump as the king of Saudi Arabia. Israel can do it in a blink of an eye through Syria and a free fly zone over Jordan.

If anything, Iran can bomb Israeli airbases to help Pakistan and KSA in case of a conflict with Israel. The same role of the shadow man.

can someone present a logical reason why Pakistan should be allied with iran?
So they act out a lot because nobody invites them to parties so give them the attention they are craving.

But seriously, what I mean to say is that including Iran could either ruin this or get Iran to behave more aligned with the interests of the region, depending on how things play out on our end and internally in Iran.

Egypt's utility in facing Israel and defending the Arab world has diminshed as the role of large land armies has diminished and been overtaken by air power.

Egypt has a large and formidible land force, and it is highly mechanised. Just like Pakistan's

Issue is now that missiles, EW, nukes and air warfare dominate what is going on. Thsi was not the case in the 60s and 70s

The days of mass armoured thrusts across the desert are over. If that were the criteria Israel would be finished in 2-3 days.

Frankly speaking. Egypt has no nuclear weapons, it was no decent missile capability other then Scuds and Scud variants and its jet fighters have been kept deliberately handicapped in terms of avionics and missiles. Once you remove the land army, Egptian missile and air power is really not greater then Saudi, UAE or Qatar.
No one knows about Egypt's BM arsenal..It is sophisticated for sure.. it started it before Pakistan and Iran.. also it has many modern warplanes with BVR and the most recent avionics..like the Rafale and Mig-29M/M2.. but the main power of Egypt apart from its land forces and Navy..is it air defense system,, one of the most sophisticated in the world ..according to Western and Eastern experts..

Those who were crying over a cipher should know that the Prime Minister’s secret files have already fallen into the hands of the Israeli lobby.
