Sea Sultan Long-Range MPA | Updates & Discussion

modifications are a PROPER ballache.

certifications, structural work, modifications, weight and balance, flight control, etc!
Alr, does airframe have capacity for internal bay? or they would fly like our ATR's

the original plan was a rotary bomb bay, like the B52, rotating drum mag, but apparently leonardo was dropped? tbh, we have no clue until we see it, but it seems like theres some comprehensive modification work going on

Structural work was always with Paramount, but previously Leonardo was the main contractor.

The roles switched, with Paramount leading and Leonardo being a sub-contractor.

I think what happened was that all parties (PN, Leonardo, and Paramount) found that Paramount leading would be better as it was closest or most involved with the airframe work. Leonardo wasn't going to touch it regardless of whether it was lead or supporting. But it'll still be involved in the areas PN had looped them in from before, e.g., AESA radar.

Well planes are pressurized , in order to carve out a Missile/Torpedo or other Bay. They would have to create a Cavity and then also ensure the plane interior remains pressurized

The Bay door opening/closure is mostly Mechanical Engineering

The 10-12 Machines would be big boost for Navy Operations from Air to Sea hunting

Lot of testing involved to ensure the plane continues to operate as before and it's structure does not get impacted with changes in any pressure

Airlines spend lot of money when they initially test the structures of planes

This means the program is successful unlike the few here who were openly saying in 2023 that the program would fail. Why are people so negative??

Agreed, a lot of unrequired negativity on here, people want results quickly.

We can take a leaf from the Indians here, if we attached a radar to 1 Sea Sultan news reports of "game changer" and "Make in Pakistan" would be going on for weeks....

According ro @arslank01 the current fleet is 6
Having 6 examples in PN, even unmodified, is a good show of progress. we can get the ball rolling on the remaining 6 over the next few years and then modification progress. I am just curious why not acquire all 28 L1000 examples for PN and PAF, ASuW, ASW, AEWCS, ELINT, VIP transport etc etc

Agree, it should become standard airframe for all spec ops platforms.

$ issue, the current desired PN requirement is 10 i think, if they fulfill this requirement then that would be more than enough
