the problem with the rest of pakistan is that they dont know what just happend from 2004 onward in these tribal areas. almost all malaks and local leaders who opposed these talibans since 2004 or either dead or they have left these areas and are now living in peshawar. lahore islamabad.
first, it is not as much easy as you think to fight these terrorist by local people and second, they say we have since 2004 informed state of these and either they did nothing or they harrassed us in turn. i am just qouting these people view as i live in peshawar and only ocassionally visit tirah once in few years. now for the first part i have myself seen mangal bagh convey 34 vehicles with more than 20 of them with machine gun installed on top of it? how can an ordinary local citizen fight these heavily armed militia? for the second part i have heard not one not two but more than 10 people swearing that we were shuting protesting to the state since 2005 that we will provide you the location just finished these bastards but state does nothing. some of them even say that we have seen these people with pak army. i am just qouting them..
the truth only Allah knows.
and please its not that easy when you have the whole family there and you fight against those? we have 8 sub clans within afridi tribe and each clan had its own malak. the malakdin khel sub clan which is also my clan and the clan of umar gul (bowler) is the biggest clan our malak resisted mangal bagh and remember the malak has support of more than 800 armed men from our sub clan. still he couldnt do anything about mangal bagh and was later martyred by a suicide attack from his own sub clan boy. his family was threatend and they leave bara and later shifted to peshawar. You people know nothing its not that easy when armed men come to your house and asked for food or shelter or water. everybody is afraid for their own family and if they do something or if they inform army later they cannot live their they will need to shift to main cities as they and their family will be in risk forever from these militants.
Also there is a story you can ask from any local orakzai agency people they will tell when TTP first tried to capture orakzai agency there were six young men who resisted and halted them for many months. they have killed many from the TTP unless they were all killed one by one some by betrayal from their close friends by bribing some are ambushed. so my point is there was a resistance but non succeeded as TTP were heavily armed and organized. Imagine our sub clan malak with over 800 armed med support couldnt stop mangal bagh
All this is pre Swat operation and history now. This happened when US Nato entered Afghanistan and everyone in Pakistan was confused, even the Pakistan Army Jawan were confused as to why should we fight our own people. It was only after Swat ops and multiple attacks in mainland Pakistan, that Pakistanis and their armed forces realized who they were dealing with.
If they are this scared then who was helping with US drone strikes in Pakistan? Yes Pakistani state provided the bases but who provided the intel? How come Shakeel Afridi dared to provide intel on the head of a strong terrorist organization .. actually the organization that is the reason for all this.
I think the situation today is different. The answer cannot be same excuse from past.
