All things SpaceX - Updates and Discussion

The Starship program is almost too big to fail at this point. The manufacturing work they’re doing at Starfactory alone is unprecedented. They’ll be churning out Starships in a few years. Many thought it was impossible
It indeed is ! I just hope they can commercially justify starships once the actual use begins.

This is where I see the risk, since the primary purpose is long range manned missions into the solar system (especially Mars, or maybe Gynamede at later points), they will need to have a model that sustains the mission and exploration/production costs. After all, that is how the Apollo programs ended, despite all the technological marvels. Nobody saw the point of it anymore and there was no financial return.

Then again, Moon had nothing to offer, maybe Mars or any nearby Asteroids can open up space exploration & economy. Otherwise, as much as we all love seeing the starships fly, starships will have little economical logic if they get limited to upper space/geosync spots.

Space confirms Flight 11 was a complete success

Amazing work from SpaceX, after so many attempts they finally made a perfect attempt. So many people had started doubting if such a large vehicle can ever fight off the air resistance, liftoff pressures and structural integrity after so many failures at varying stages.

Most of all, they seem to have solved all of the launch platform problems after so many failed attempts, which seems to have translated into full success. Awesome results !

SpaceX has proven that Starship is a highly resilient vehicle from a structural standpoint. They intentionally removed tiles to stress the structure, and it’s proven to be a strong design.

Now the key is reuse. The heat shield performing that well is a great sign. If they can catch the ship, with minimal refurbishment to the shield then they’ve cracked reuse.

Most of the haters on this forum that said Starship was impossible several years ago are nowhere to be found today.

I suspect they are still here. Only rooting for someone else.

oh they said the US using Ukrainian RD-180 engines and China surpassing the US rocket launch total in 2021 was a bellwether for who is the most technologically superior country. So you better believe we are now going to let them have it.

“He’s a global idol,” commented one user. “Elon Musk is just great, if only China could have someone like Elon Musk,” said another.

I just bought this beautiful copy of Apollo Remastered, today and enjoying every single amazing closeup of the Moon and its surface from 1969 (those are closeups of boot-prints in Lunar sand).

Case in point being, as a country, China cannot just start in 2010s and hope to surpass a country that was achieving this freaking amazing stuff in 1969. The backbone of the intellect and expertise always counts.

The is simply no competing with the US in this domain, I always said that during the transition of US from nationalized to commercial space travel. Looking forward to the same stuff from Mars, soon.

You will have a hard time convincing a certain member or two otherwise.

Mars is coming. Still working on the issues with the Van Allen Belts and radiation exposure the astronauts would have to deal with.
