I hate to say this but India is like a good fukking half a century behind Iran in modern warfare!

I dont think that. India's greatest and perhaps the only major sin is that it is right next to China which makes it very vulnerable. Had there been a distance between the two, things would have been rather easy for India.

As far as being behind any other nation goes, it is decent. It has a decent navy (nothing compared to China obviously, but then being in China's shadow is the biggest sin that India committed).

It has a large and workable force. Nothing like American Army/Marine but still nothing to scoff at.

Its airforce is largely dysfunctional but then Iran is ... well... Iran does not have any airforce to begin with. Lets be honest till late 90s, even Chinese airforce was largely outdated and dysfunctional.

India's biggest achievement is to obtain a nuclear deterrance. Given much better and much more advanced nations failed in that (not due to technology but pure international political pressure).

No matter how much world discounts India's nuclear weapons as "low yield" or whatever, yet even a 10-15 KT bomb on an accurate missile is very hard to argue against. India has at the very minimum a 15 KT bomb mounted on a very well tested long range and accurate missile. It will be foolish to discount that fact. Something Iran right now and even Ukraine will kill to have.

So to discount India is not being wise. It is ahead of Iran in terms of military strength and capabilities.
