As Taliban starts restricting men too, some regret not speaking up sooner

There is nothing wrong with having a legal system based solely of Sharia, however its implementation and safeguards are what's difficult when left to mere mortals who are as always far from infallible.
But one should atleast try like talibanis , perfection is a function of time ...Complete sharia should have been implemented long ago..

Like I said the implementation of Sharia is what is the stumbling block. This isn't the thread for it but there is a reason most modern Muslim nations have two forms of legal systems.

Women naturally don't protest much as they are confined to their homes and the biggest victims here. Men naturally don't care since the Islamic system favours them and mostly harms women, so they are not going to risk their lives for women rights, unfortunately.
That was my original point. That most Afghans don't feel strongly about female education and many are actually against it.

Yes and that's why they will be relegated to a footnote in the annals of history in the coming years.

military occupation that commits gross crimes against the population is not a genuine attempt. the Afghan government that fled immediately deserves criticism for sure.

the solution is federalisation of Afghanistan, so Pashtuns can live as they wish and Tajiks/Hazaras and others can do the same. These groups do not have much in common.

You cannot hold 'The West' entirely responsible for what has happened in Afghanistan. Ultimately it is the Afghans themselves who have created the situation.

The Islamic systems gives women rights and protection, it gives them freedom to seek education and work but it also asks for modesty as it treats women like a diamond. However the best place for a woman is her home, where she is safe, I would say the best place for any human is their home, where they are safe. As they say "Home sweet home"

Afghanistan Taliban needs to provide separate schools for women but banning education is unislamic practise. Islam promotes education.

"This is the second time that the Taliban have banned education for girls in Afghanistan. The first time was during their previous regime in the late 1990s. When the Taliban were overthrown in 2001, everything changed. Communities, civil society, the Afghanistan government and international partners, including foreign governments and NGOs, came together to support girls’ education. Consequently, school enrollments for girls increased dramatically from almost none in 2001 to about 4 million by 2020."

Afghan culture for sure. Change comes under a setup that value education, not under militants.

The day Iran and Pakistan stop the charity and smuggling of basic food staples like cooking oil, Fluor, rice, sugar…….Afghanistan will collapse and the talibunnies driven out.

Afghanistan is the most illiterate and backward nation in the world almost entirely dependent upon the good will of its neighbors.
