Attrition Losses Pakistan Army 2016 onwards

Dear Lord....Do you think the fleet should be grounded or does the need override potential safety considerations?
i dont think its like that, i think we'll just see lower availability as the war rages on.

Please spare us the usual political bakvas. This thread is military, the section is military.

Nobody coming to these specific threads cares about the political views you espouse.

There are plenty of threads for that in the Siasat forum.

This thread is to report attrition incidents. Political issues and statements are Not Allowed. You will be thread banned

Have you heard yet of any cause for the crash?
negative, i wont speculate either. Lets see what comes out of it, if anything. Whatever it is, Pak Helicopter fleet has been in dire shape barring the 139s and fennecs

The fleet is very mixed to say the least. Some 30 year old airframes in there, some much more new (10 years odd), Nothing wrong with the MI-17V, decent build and decent, reliable engine. For the amount we use these birds and the number we have (50-60) attrition is actually very good. They may not look good or as sexy as western counterparts, but like the T-80UDs, rough and reliable which is what we need. Need to wait for investigation if this was pilot or chopper related

Had heard that Mi-17 is very reliable workhorse. Why fleet is getting in dire shape? I guess age of the fleet /airframes ?

But in anycase, i think PA definitely needs more transport helis given the size of the army, complex terrain and kind of threats we are in. Infact transport helis are much more vital than even gunships.

You can do well even without gunships using other means. Make tactics to overcome the shortcomings but Transportation and high mobility is absolutely crucial. Faster deployment can make all the difference in the world.

i think the H225 is kinda the closest that comes to mi17 class.

slightly lower mtow, few less troops, far more modern, but also, can be used tri services1781174713923.png
