Azerbaijan Air Force Becomes Fourth Operator of JF-17 Fighter Aircraft, President Aliyev Confirms

@arslank01

Looks like like the forum was under attack and the last couple of comments seem to have vanished.

But it’s as follow:

- $4.6 billion contract for 40 JF-17C
- $2 billion investment in Pakistan by Azerbaijan (various fields of economy)

These two are not related to each other.

I know this despite the confusing translation and wording because the $2 billion investment was mentioned before, already last year iirc during Azerbaijani president’s visit to Pakistan. Now it’s a firm agreement.

From March:

gotcha.

makes sense, thanks mate

PFX should now have some money to work with.

It’s $4.6 billion for 40 JF-17C.

$2 billion investment is another topic, not related to JF-17C deal. It will be an investment in Pakistani economy.

This $2 billion investment was already mentioned before (it was a proposal, now firm agreemenr), if someone wasn’t familar with this news then I can see why they might be confused. Translation also seem confusing.

This last comment is from before the forum was hacked (?), lol. Suddenly appeared now after forum is back. Can a mod delete please?

Its certainly an odd choice.

Perhaps it's a matter of a lack of space? Just seems odd.

These are hangers for regular air ops, in addition air forces have HAS that are hardened and seperated from each other, planes are dispersed there during war. For regular ops these types of hangers are handy as keeps aircraft shielded from sun, and allows maintenece, rearmimg and refueling to be done quicker as all planes are next to each other. No air force keeps planes next to each other in the open, it is suicidal (ask the IAF base commander at Kaliakunda circa 1965)

IAF hit hangers at Jacoabad and Bolhari but these were empty as per SOPs during war

this is great news

my only question is will Azerbaijan get things like PL-15 and CM-400 AKG ?

btw this sale can pay for the J35 purchase from China for Pakistan

They're going for a Turkified JF-17, so it will have Turkish sensors and weapons.

In other words, it's a 50/50 on if they get PL-15E and CM400AKG, but I'd say there is a strong possibility that they'll opt solely for Turkish missiles as a more reliable and long term solution.

I would agree with that

China should not sell PL-15 or CM-400 AKG to anyone outside Pakistan

I also hope the Block 3 is a downgraded version

we cant compromise national security for short term profits

although its $4.2 billion !!

What threat does Azerbaijan pose to us?

JF-17 is basically a single seat version of MiG-29. It uses very similar engines. Azerbaijan being a small country don't need a mid size plane like MiG-29. JF-17 is sufficient.

I dont think he's saying Azerbaijan is the threat. The issue is that other nations may end up sending spies or whoever and commit espionage to steal its secrets.

There's also the issue of Azerbaijan being close to Israel, who is close to India, so you do the math.

Money, for nuclear submarine program which is stuck at 65% completion..
2028 is the launch of nuclear sub for Pakistan

Both PL15e and CM400 are openly for export, which appears in every main defense show as long as AVIC is invited. Azerbaijan holds a good relationship with China too, so I think there is no obstacle for Azerbaijan to acquire. Of course their version may be different from Pakistan’s which I guess is just the earlier batch of PLAAF’s own version.

4.5 billion US dollar deal. Significant amount for a cash strapped economy.
Thanks India for a good marketing of our pilots and jets. Credit goes to modi and bhakts.

Turkey itself has 0 AESA fighter in service, 0 middle-range AA in service, everything is under development. I would say the chance of a Turkified JF-17 is zero.
