The locals only feel safe under their tribe. If they get sick, need education, protection, etc., the govt doesn't help them but their tribes.

Agreed..... Since 1947, the state focused on "managing sardars" rather than "integrating citizens"...... The result is that for the Baloch of Balochistan, the tribe/ethnicity became "us" and the state became "them."...

Balochistan's problem is a toxic mix of poverty, lack of education, tribalism, state-society disconnect/weak national integration, the othering of the state, and a deep legitimacy deficit rooted in perceptions of internal colonialism....

The state sees Balochistan through a security lens....The Baloch see the state through a lens of alienation and exclusion.... And you are right about perceptions... If trust is absent, even a school, road, or hospital can be viewed with suspicion...

More importantly, a nation is built on consent, not coercion.... Forcing people to be part of a nation against their will is a mockery of the very idea of nationhood....
