Bangladesh Keen To Join Saudi-Pak-Turkey Defence Alliance, Says PM's Top Aide

First of all , bangladesh is not formally invited to join defense pact by the alliance .
Bangladesh will join only if it is invited by current members of alliance .
Till now bangladesh has not received any proposal from the members of alliance even if bangladesh is showing interest

Real reason Bangladesh is showing interest in joining this pact is they're right now actually going through the worst economic situation after the removal of Hasina government.... due to Iran war they're going through the worst oil and gas shortage.... even capital city like dhaka is facing load shading for several hours.... same situation is with other big cities like Chittagong, coxbazar, mymensigh everywhere.....

Bangladesh has total 100 plus Power plants with 29000 MW power generation capacity with major plants running on natural gas,some by coal and some by diesel and around 16% electricity they import mostly from India....

Below is the video showing the same and watch video at 2:50 where one small 5 years old girl is calling electricity board and complaining about no lights as it's her birthday.... immediately next video one hand fan seller going viral who is now missing Hasina government but at the same time happy as he said till the time current government is in bangladesh he doesn't have to worry about his business.....

There industrial sector have also taken massive hit because of this shortage...

So basically Bangladesh is either trying to get money, discounted oil on easy terms from Saudi Arabia by joining this pact or it is hoping that if India request him to not to join any such pact then he can pressure India for something big like say discounted electricity, diesel on long time payment terms or say some monetary package anything but surely bangladesh is trying to get something either from Saudi Arabia or by India....

Bangladesh situation is in reality far worst than what it looks on the surface....

Problem is , if they don't do economically better ,illegal infiltration in india will increase, even jihadi also increases, it is better BD stay economically good .
Hope Bd always stay stable economically.
Whether bd joins or not pact, it does not matter .

I addressed your point regarding annexing NE -it is unrealistic and unnecessary.
If Bangladesh is attacked by India, we should retaliate by maximising damage to Indian economy, rather than drain our own economy trying to annex hostile land.

They got free houses, toilets , free gas cylinder , even free ration .
Even govt pays teachers in madrasas , although Court said to stop it , still govt do .
Many muslims in my area got free houses .
And they even get free health insurance for family .

While it is always satisfying to watch Indian establishment sweat, Bangladesh government needs to shake off any such "sugar high" and assess the long term pros and cons of such a pact from strategic, geopolitical and economic lenses.

Here are just a handful of factors to chew on:

Pros:
1. This would depend what is actually written down in the agreement clauses, but this might be an opportunity to form a real defence alliance, where an attack on Bangladesh could be treated as an attack on all signatories. Pakistan and Turkey have strong militaries who are actually capable of intervening. Pakistan is nuclear armed.

While China is a great friend of Bangladesh, they would not intervene militarily to protect us.

2. Potential for greater access to NATO-standard military technology and better petroleum deals.

3. Potential preferential treatment for Bangladeshi workers in GCC.

4. Opportunity for Bangladeshi military to gain more combat experience for good pay, reducing dependency on dwindling UNPKO missions.



Cons:
1. Saudi Arabia and Turkey are heavily integrated into Western military technological ecosystems.
How compatible would a Chinese-hardware dependent Bangladeshi miilitary be in such an alliance?
2. Impact on economic and military relations with China. There is a good chance that Saudi Arabia would try to drag Bangladesh into hostilities against Iran, Yemen, etc. which goes against Chinese geopolitical interests.

3. Israel/Palestine situation - both Turkey and Saudi Arabia are covertly friendly towards Israel. Any attempt to use Bangladeshi resources to suppress anti-Israel actors (e.g.- Houthis, Hezbollah, Iran, etc.) would be unpopular in Bangladesh.

Considering all the things you mentioned above one can safely reach the conclusion that Bangladesh has no utility for MDA rather it will be a liability....I don't see Bangladesh being part of MDA in a foreseeable future.

One of the benefits that annexing NE will do is a land connection with China.

We can do an economic corridor like CPEC to develop the region.

Fact is Bangladesh economy is in the worst shape today, there's an oil, gas, electricity shortage even cooking gas shortage in Bangladesh.... your industrial sector is not able to function properly due to this....

You can't pay upfront and buy energy sources as it's eating up your miniscule foreign reserves speedily and hence you are in desperate situation to bag something big either from Saudi Arabia or India....

Otherwise without any invitation Bangladesh showing interest in joining some pact related to the middle east or west Asia affairs is like BEGANI SHADI ME ABDULLAH DEEWANA....
