Bangladesh Socio-Political Crisis 2024 and onwards

Don’t tar all students with the same dirty brush.

It’s mainly “Madrasah students”.

We need to slowly shut down Madrasas. They produce kids who have no life skills and are fodder for the Islamists to exploit!

Madrasahs need to be replaced with vocational training.

There’s a massive shortage of brick layers, plasterers, electricians, plumbers etc in the world.

U.K. alone needs hundreds of thousands of workers to build 1.5 million new homes over the next 5 years.
Agreed. Shouldn't have branded all the students as two faced hypocrites. Most of the common students who supported the July movement didn't have a clue that they were merely a pawn in a much much bigger game, where their emotions were used to fulfill others hidden agenda.

Now, many of them realize how meticulously they were used by an entity that has never even recognized our nation and identity. What’s happening on the streets now is largely out of their control, and they will never be able to return to the life they once knew unless the current fanatics are cast into the place where they truly belong

Overwhelming majority of Bangladeshi Muslims are fully practicing Muslims. BAL never stopped anyone praying 5 times a day. Record number of masques were built under Hasina.

In fact, Hasina’s reign will be known as the era of the air conditioned masques.

But there is no contradiction in their stance of not wanting to be dictated to by the Mullahs.

Islam, yes!
Mullah-giri, NO!

That is essentially what secularism is about.

An excellent speech by Bobby Hajjaj regarding the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. It's couple of weeks old and the speech is in Bangla, but he's touched on some key issues here.

Building mosque isn't the only criteria for allowing religious practice. There were open discrimination against people with beard, wearing niqab or even wearing hijab. Multiple cases where people were forced to open their hijab in front of a male govt official, violating their right to practice their religion. Even here in the West officials are considerate enough to let allow female officials to search other females in high security places.

Imams were restricted on what they could say in their sermons. Like unable to talk about Quran verses that talks about oppressive rulers and their downfall. Or protesting against oppressive rulers, criminals in the society. Basically anything that could rile up the mass against the ruling elite.

Also - not to forget the hundreds of youth illegally detained on suspicion of terrorism for being practicing Muslim i.e. keeping beard and going to mosques regularly to pray. Many were killed extrajudicially, including teenagers.

You cannot secularize Islam by limiting what people can or cannot do according to your personal preference. If you try to do that, it becomes a corrupted version of the religion or a different religion altogether, but definitely not Islam.

Without going into the religious discussion, I will say that many tried to modify Islam to cater to their world view - like Turkey, former Soviet Republics of Dagestan or Chechnya, China, Bosnia, and of course in Bangladesh. A different belief system be it secularism or communism was forced on to the citizens of these countries to censor Islamic practices to cater to the desire of the ruling class.

But every single case attempted to corrupt the religion has failed and will continue to fail because that is very much what was promised in the Quran which practicing Muslims around the world believe. There were periods of deviation from Islamic practices per Quran and Sunnah in these countries, followed by a resurgence and reversion back to the proper way over time.

Essentially what I write about here.

Secularism is essentially it.

I want to celebrate Valentine’s Day without any harassment from Mullahs!

that’s what I mean by Islam Yes, Mulla-giri NO!!

People detained for having a beard?

Doesn’t pass the smell test given 80% of the males in my family have beard. None of them have been arrested.

Beards are quite fashionable amongst my nephews - none have been arrested. All Gen Z.

As for restricting what Mullahs can spout in Masques - absolutely support it given how they radicalise young men into terrorism. Same rules are followed by U.K. and US Masques.

Imams need to stay impartial given people of all political hues go to masques.

Imams must stay impartial otherwise it creates friction in Masques.

You need to check the stories of Aynaghar detainees and those killed extrajudicially without trial. Just because your family members were privileged with political connections, doesn't mean everyone else had the same fortune.

As for imams - do not agree. Imams are the community leaders and they should be teaching people from the Quran and Sunnah about social issues. Islam isn't just a religion but a way of life. The same goes for other religions. If you censor that, it is absolutely violating people's religious rights.

Whilst some political rivals were indeed locked up - just like under other past BD regimes…….

Vast majority of those locked up were very bad people. They would be locked up under current U.K./US law as well.

So many young Muslims are falling prey to Islamists around the world - governments cannot be complacent.

Hasina managed to subdue Islamists unlike many of our fellow Muslim countries.

For that I am extremely grateful.

As for your idea of Imams - that’s where we disagree vehemently.

Why don't you name then individually and provide evidence to back up your claim. So we can actually see how vast majority were very bad people as you claim.

Let’s start with these lot.

They frequently vandalise shops selling Valentines garb - amongst other things.

Perfect candidates for Aynaghor.

One of their demand is this:

“Official declaration of Ahmadiyyas as non-Muslim”.

No government has a role in deciding who is a Muslim!!!

That demand alone is worthy of Aynaghor.

Nice try but i am not diverting the convo. You claimed people who were actually in Ainaghar, vast majority of then were very bad people. Now provide evidence of which of them did what exactly to deserve that. I am not interested in hypothetical candidates for torture and locking up according to your personal preference.

What is secularism and how does it apply to Bd?

Bd people will decide how they want to move forward.

You can celebrate valentine or falentine as mush as you like. No body give iota.

If Bd people disowned any foreign HM celebrations then its good for them.

Understand this. Your Awami bigotry got no room left in new Bd. Faster you come to reality is good for your helth. Kapish!

I named Babar has a perfect candidate but the post was deleted and I was given a warning.

@Musings bro, please provide guidelines before I name more people.

Should I carry on?
