Since 2022 Yuanhang have raised a few eyebrows at auto shows thanks to the cars they’ve shown and the often garish colors both inside and out that they’ve been decked out in. This year it seems they have gone one better and brought an actual production car that has been spotted in the traffic waiting to get into the Beijing Auto Show. The Yuanhang Y7, a large premium EV sedan, will officially launch at the show.

Measuring in at a length, width and height of 5260, 2000 and 1490 mm respectively, along with a wheelbase of 3128 mm the sedan is anything but small. There’s a choice of 20 and 21- inch wheels. The Y7 is actually the second sedan from the brand after the Y6 launched last year and curiously the two cars a very similar size although the Y7 is actually both 10 mm shorter and lower. Concept versions of the Y7 had scissor doors and these may also be present on the production version.
Design wise it has a clean sports coupe type EV look first popularized by the XPeng P7 in China. Autohome report the headlights have a projection capability allowing it to beam messages like “please cross” onto the sidewalk.

Inside the Yuanhang Y7 has been toned down significantly from the concepts and even more so than the production Y6 with it all looking dare we say it, tasteful. Dominating the cockpit is a huge 17.38-inch infotainment screen. There’s also an instrument screen and 70-inch augmented reality HUD. Rear seat passengers also enjoy their own screens. The car features an immersive audio system with 19 amplifiers. There are also features such as facial recognition for the driver.

The Yuanhang Y7 rides on an 800V architecture platform developed in conjunction with Bosch allowing fast charging. Range is currently stated as 800 km on the CLTC cycle with the car in the future supposedly featuring a solid-state battery good for 1000 km. Two 250 kW motors drive the Yuanhang Y7 with each producing a peak torque of 400 Nm.
Yuanhang is a premium brand belonging to the Dayun Group. The company is based in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province and is best known as a truck manufacturer. Along with selling EVs under the Yuanhang brand they also produce cheaper EV cars badged with the Dayun brand.

Luxeed is working hard to stay in the news. Earlier this month it relaunched the S7 and now it says the car from June will be the first car able to autonomously park. Unlike other systems which will park for you or allow you to remotely control the car in and out of a space the system of the S7 will allow you not to be in the car.

Huawei claim that it will be the first commercially available car in the world to be able to do this but of course there are some caveats to the system. It seems from the description so far known that the system is actually an extension of the Valet Park Assist (AVP) function which involves teaching the car a route to a parking spot. According to Huawei the new system is an over-the-horizon autonomous parking function which can independently search and select parking spaces along with prioritizing them. However, what makes us suspect it is just an extension of AVP is that Fast Technology states that when a target parking space is occupied, the vehicle will automatically find other free spaces.
Similar systems such as from XPeng still require the driver to be in the car so if the Luxeed S7 can truly offer a drop and park system this will really be a time saver. Along with this forthcoming feature the S7 offers other parking functions which can deal with situations such as narrow spaces. There is also a summon function via mobile phone to bring the car to your side.

The Luxeed S7 has general obstacle detection (GOD) and a road topology inference network (RCR) which helps with its self-driving ability. In addition the Luxeed S7 can learn the daily commute route so that it can give a more relaxing commute to users. Earlier this year the car gained a comprehensive upgrade via OTA to boost its self-driving ability.
Prices for the relaunched Luxeed S7 range from 249,800 to 349,800 yuan (34,500-48,350 USD) for the five models with all achieving at least 630 km CLTC range. Battery pack sizes are either 82 or 100 kWh dependent on model. The car also has 800V architecture giving ultra-fast charging allowing as much as 430 km range to be added in 15 minutes. Single motor versions are powered by a 215 kW motor on the rear axle while all-wheel drive versions also add a 150 kW motor to the front.
Luxeed is a car brand jointly made by Chery and Huawei which uses the Huawei store network for sales.

There is a 12.3-inch instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central control screen, a 9-inch W-HUD, and a round steering wheel. The high-end 145 Pro and 145 Chuanyue models also come with camping lights, steering wheel heating, a driving recorder, a 10-speaker audio system, an anti-glare rearview mirror, and an air quality system.
The vehicle configuration is also upgraded to support L2+ advanced driving assistance functions, which are realized via 11 standard sensors.
Furthermore, there are 44 storage spaces throughout the car and the standard trunk storage volume is 586 L.

2024 Lixiang L6 Pro Review (Eng) | Li Auto's New Suv Under $35k? | LiAuto L6

There are so many Chinese car models!

If I'm in China and want to buy a car, I don't know which one.

Btw, almost all of them are not cheap models.

Usually in third world countries, most people's preference for cars is the cheap models, the cheapest the better.

But from what I see in China, most Chinese preference is more luxurious ones.

BYD reveal new Fang Cheng Bao Super 9 electric hypercar convertible

At first, I looked down on BYD supercar.

I thought it was just a gimmick, BYD is trying grab public attention with a supercar (despite the design is not good).

But then I realized that the reason BYD released it is not for marketing purposes, but instead for showing the world what EV supercar can do, the technological aspect.

This is a big breakthrough in EV world.

Even a normal EV car can beat out ICE supercar, I can't imagine what the true EV supercar can do.

I thought they released it a couple of months ago.

I saw a lot of Chinese videos on how people on the street in China parked their cars autonomously.

It becomes a common sight on the street of China today.

BYD seeks collaboration, not competition, with Vinfast in Vietnam

China’s BYD, the world’s largest electric vehicle manufacturer, wants to partner with carmaker VinFast when it launches in Vietnam in June rather than compete against the local giant.

It plans to open its first Vietnam showrooms in Hanoi and HCMC in June and soon expand to 20 other provinces and cities, Liu Xue Liang, general manager of BYD’s Asia Pacific automobile sales division, said at a meeting Thursday with the Vietnamese media.

"BYD greatly admires VinFast for pioneering the introduction of EVs in Vietnam. We want to collaborate rather than compete with the carmaker to develop electric cars because the [Vietnam EV] market is still nascent."

The distribution of vehicles will be handled by subsidiary BYD Auto Vietnam.

Ouyang Xiaocheng, its CEO, said the fact that more brands are entering Vietnam is proof that the market is very appealing.

BYD will debut in Vietnam with compact hatchback Dolphin, compact crossover Atto 3 and midsize sedan Seal.

If they prove successful, it will launch three more models by the end of the year, large sedan Han, hybrid crossover Song and midsize crossover Tang.

All the vehicles will be imported as complete units from China. But in the long run the firm plans to build a factory in Vietnam.

It has yet to disclose prices, but its representatives have said they are looking to compete with internal combustion vehicles rather than Vinfast’s all-electric lineup since BYD’s priority is facilitating the shift from gasoline to electric.

The automaker is aiming for sales of 5,000 units, or 900 per month, in the second half of 2024, sources familiar with the matter told VnExpress.

The target is considered challenging for a new brand in Vietnam’s EV industry, which has not fully developed.

BYD entered the automotive industry in 2003 with its gasoline-powered vehicles but fully shifted to electric and hybrid vehicles by 2022.

It became the world's biggest EV seller last year, with global sales of over three million units.

But only 400,000 were sold outside China.

It entered the Thai market in late 2022 and became the country’s leading EV manufacturer with a 40% market share within just one year.

Great news, I'm looking forward to see BYD expand into Vietnam's electric vehicle market and boost adoption rates.

Honda Ye, a collaboration between Honda and China's GAC.

The design is very good.
