Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

We have talked about this many times, it's much more than a striker, they wouldn't be putting luxury sensors, radars for a fighter bomber, and there is no such thing as a fighter bomber in future air warfare to begin with.
dude, it will be multi-role jet but main mission will be cas/strike rather then true air superiority jet like J-20,, with a limited payloads of BVRAAMs

you need some update or revisiting the chief designer's paper, the country and airforce invested tens or even hundred billion dollars into the whole project , they are expecting much more than a striker with limited a2a plane from CAC.

via the SDF:

In the latest talkshow Yankee says:

1) J-36 will not be a Mach 3 capable aircraft.
2) Yankeesama has talked briefly with J-36 Chief Designer Wang Haifeng.
3) Chief Designer care not much about hard specs such as top speed, max thrust, etc. The important criteria of the fighter is instead power generation capability.
4) J-36 can serve as EW and AWAC to some capacity.
5) No pulsed detonation engine or ramjet on J-36. They can’t provide enough power to even existing fighter aircraft avionics, let alone something as sophisticated as CHAD.
6) Engine design no longer focuses on thrust alone. What’s more important is subsystem for power generation under whole flight envelope. Power regulation system is therefore of foremost importance. An example would be NEV vs ICE or F-15 vs MiG-25.
7) Variable cycle engine will conform to J-36’s design.
8) Yankee once again agrees with SDF assessment that the J-36 is not a simple fighter, fighter bomber, bomber, etc. but a new system altogether. It is more akin to an air based cruiser.
Here is a very brief summary.

I know that, it's like NGAD philosophy, SYSTEMS OF SYSTEMS theme, but J-36 concept may be slightly different, may be J-36 may be will more rely on SHOOT AND SCOOT tactics rather then a SYSTEMS OF SYSTEMS philosophy of NGAD

The jet itself become the system instead of solely rely on the system given it's size and mission that required the plane to reach out the place where other Chinese aircraft may not be able to reach, this is my take on the aircraft.

It could act like a "mothership" and will fly with AI "Loyal Wingman" that move ahead and take data from it and pass data back using secure encrypted data links.

The "Loyal Wingman" may use its huge and powerful radar to identify and track targets that they can then engage with their missiles In return it may rely on "Loyal Wingman" flying hundreds of kms ahead to send targeting data to it in order to engage with its extreme long range PL-17 missiles.

In essence this is a completely new way of air warfare as this platform will have a massive radar and extremely power sensors and processing power that it can do things that were previously not even imagined.

The loyal wingman of the J-36 could be something hypersonic like the MD-22.

And the J-36 itself is a hypersonic stealth truck that could fire a bunch of PL-17/PL-15.

It can also share the data with other J-36 and loyal wingmen to fire the missiles if running out of missiles itself.

last ditch effort to avoid enemy is maneuverability/agility if enemy will avoid your all bvrs via ew, so you're wrong about maneuverability and agility is not necessary for 6th gen jets

The J-36 is significantly faster and flying at higher altitude.

No current aircraft can snipe out in bvr against the radar equipped by the J-36 along with its PL-17/PL-15.

you're just speculating, how do know it will fly higher and significantly faster then NGAD with current engines (WS-10/WS-15) compare to NGAD with (F-119/F-135)?

Well, the J-20S that followed behind the J-36 was already equipped with two WS-15 turbofan engines with 185KN afterburner.

And it was still significantly inferior to the J-36, and what level of the engine power do you think the J-36 possessing?

The NGAD is still vaporware, so it is not yet eligible to compare to the J-36.

you still speculating, and NGAD is not vaporware, its prototypes flying since 2020-2021 according to USAF and Pentagon

Then please show us a video of NGAD flying on the sky.

Otherwise, this is going to be really bad looking for the US.

To reinstate the production line for the upgrade F-22 raptor will not be enough to comfort their unsettling supporters.

its highly classified so far, no photo or video, but project is open, everyone knows it

PLEASE! This type is never a hypersonic stealth! That‘s ridicolous.

The program itself is already a big blow and groundbreaking, we don't need those extra hypes to make it look like an alien ship, that is an insult to the engineers and people working on the project.
