Fu Cong criticizes Sanae Takaichi's remarks: Japan is not qualified to demand to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Fu Cong, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, stated at the plenary session of the UN General Assembly on Security Council reform on the afternoon of November 18 that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi recently made blatantly provocative remarks about Taiwan in the Diet, and he criticized Japan for having no right to demand to become a permanent member of the Security Council.
Fu Cong emphasized that, as is well known, there is only one China in the world, the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inseparable part of China's territory.

He criticized Sanae Takaichi's remarks on Taiwan as extremely erroneous, dangerous, and a blatant interference in China's internal affairs, seriously violating the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan. He stated that this was a provocation against international justice, a disruption of the post-war international order, a trampling on the basic norms of international relations, and a blatant departure from Japan's fundamental commitment to a peaceful path. He asserted that such a country has no right to demand a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.
He also warned that if Japan dares to intervene militarily in the Taiwan Strait situation, it will constitute an act of aggression, and China will certainly retaliate forcefully. China will resolutely exercise its right to self-defense under the UN Charter and international law, and firmly safeguard its national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
