Chinese PLAAF News

Do you know which unit retired them?
This news is a bit old.

The Air Force Engineering University is using these J-11 fighter jets as training aids.

The original combat numbers of the fighter jets have been removed. The video shows three J-11s with the numbers "5015, 5016, and 5017". One of them has the production number "0004".

That's indeed interesting for several reasons:

1. They appear to be Batch 00 aka prototypes & LRIP J-11 and not J-11B even if they have likely a painted "full-size" radome without the typical cut-out

2. They appear to be the first fighter-Flankers spotting low visibility markings.

3. Indeed, the numbering system 5x1x is not assigned to any operational training unit.

The unit disclosed in the news is the "Air Force Engineering University." Their task is to train support personnel, not pilots. Therefore, these J-11 fighter jets have likely lost their flight capabilities and are now used as training aids for ground crew at the air force base.
Therefore, these aircraft may be painted to simulate the camouflage schemes of other active Chinese Flanker-series fighter jets, rather than using their own original service paint schemes.

As for the serial numbers, I have no information to provide.

Only J-11A are retired? right? what about J-11B and J-11BS? will they also be retired in near future?

This news only indicates that some J-11A aircraft have become training aids at the Air Force Engineering University.
It does not mean that all J-11A aircraft have been retired. At least, there is no official information to confirm this at the moment.

The J-11B series fighter jets (including J-11B/J-11BS/J-11BG) are still in service.

i wanted to ask is in the end meaning in next 3 to 5 years PLAAF will retire all J-11? if they get the desired number of J-16s and J-20s and J35s?

PLAAF also has plenty of J-10s. so among J10 and J11 which one you think may get retired early?

By the way i am on opinion that PAF should try to procure cheap J11 and J10 from PLAAF as PLAAF moves towards J16, J35 and J20.. These J10 and J11 are still very potent aircrafts which PAF can get cheaply from PLAAF

1. The Chinese military typically does not release this information. It is also difficult for outsiders to know the actual situation.

2. Currently, older fighter jets such as the J-10A and J-11A are rarely seen in public. We can only speculate that they may have all been retired. The J-10S and J-11BS are frequently seen in public.

1. Pakistan has never liked Chinese second-hand weapons. They have no interest in them whatsoever.

2. If Pakistan wants to buy retired fighter jets from the PLAAF, then neither the J-10A nor the J-11A are good options. The JH-7A would be the best choice.

Agree..we should replace our mirage 3 squadrons with JH-7A.. we need a heavy bomber. However pakistan prefers multi role fighters that is why second hand J11 especially J-11B/J-11BS/J-11BG will be very useful for PAF

@HemlockKhalid/AeronautIR Sir jee iss pay roshni daalain.. secondhand sastay humain mil saktay ye

J-10A: The PAF is not interested in this fighter jet.
J-11A: Due to an agreement between China and Russia, it is unlikely to be exported.
JH-7A: CATIC has already publicly promoted it to the international arms market.

I think china and pakistan can convince russia for J-11? ofcourse if russia dont agree than we should not procure

The J-11A uses original Russian components, including the N001 series pulse-Doppler radar. It can only use older Russian-made missiles and payloads. China did not make many upgrades or modifications to them. Only a few J-11A aircraft were used for experimental modifications.

China made many improvements and upgrades to the J-11B.

What can the PAF do with these outdated fighter jets?

Eventually china will retired all J-11 and J-10s and move towards J16 and 5th and 6th gen fighter. This is an opportunity for PAF if we can negotiate and get the latest versions of J11 and J10 from china cheaply.
what is your opinion if today we make a deal with china about procurement of all J-10C as they will in couple of years replace them with J16, J35 and J20?

Do you mean:

The PAF is now proposing to China to purchase all of the PLAAF's currently operational J-10C fighter jets. When the PLAAF commissions its new J-16/J-20/J-35 fighter jets and retires the J-10C, these J-10C aircraft will be directly delivered to the PAF?

Really?

The PLAAF currently has a very large number of J-10C aircraft, and the PAF is unable to acquire all of them. If the PAF were to acquire a portion of the J-10C aircraft, China would likely be happy to agree.

The problem lies in negotiating the quantity, price, and payment methods.

However, I believe the PAF will not make such a request. Pakistan does not like second-hand Chinese weapons.

PAF’s requirements have always been high, and they wouldn’t want the J-10A and J-11A. And the J10C is obviously not going to retire any time soon.

To be honest, if PAF buys all the J-10Cs from China, it is very likely to get into big trouble.

Because China has a number of J-10Cs to ensure the follow-up upgrade and maintenance of all J-10C and J-10CE. If China does not have-10C, then...
