Chinese SAC - FC-31/J-35 5th Gen Stealth Aircraft

Engaging an ir guided wvr missile close in is the ultimate challenge in difficulty. Perhaps a miniaturized hit to hill system (like the Lockheed MHTK) will be used, but more likely finding a way to getting out of the threat environment will be more optimal.
WS-19 is not ready by now

No, we would get them with WS 19

But then is any date before 2028 almost right away impossible! From all we know, the WS-19 was tested for the first time only in January 2024 in/on a J-35, so to think it could then be ready as an engine is impossible and even more for export.

The "merger" just seems to be a formality, as the platforms were essentially the same and being developed using the same prototypes...at least from what I can tell.

From what I can tell, they're just killing the FC-31 designation to decrease confusion.

@Deino

Does that sound about right?

Exactly … the only question remains however, why then was a J-31 shown last year in model form?

If FHN tweet he quoted is true then J-35 is already about to enter mass production that means my timeline was right all along. And I had no information, I only based on the fact that Air Chief has said we are inducting J-31 so it can be 4 to 5 yeas away at best 2.5 years away. J-31 is coming was announced at start of this year so by 2.5 to 3 years it should be here by mid or end of 2026.

I am surprised, many other senior members were saying J35 and J31 are completely different, even if J35 is ready the J31 will still be a decade or so away as not much work has been done on it. Seems like J35 has an air version so if J35Navy is ready in 2 years time then J35 air version will also be close to production.

Initially they were supposed to be two different Air Crafts, not fully different but to some extent different. Or let say they were already working on two slightly different variants of same Air Craft under two different names. Now even the name will be same

It will be pointless to dwell on this, we just need to know what is happening now.

As is tradition, these secrets will be revealed in the form of an official documentary at some point in the future. Until then it's all wishful speculation by military fans. If it's the truth we want to know, just be patient.

According to Fu Qianfeng, the 31st Air Force version was ultimately named the J-35A. It will be extensively equipped in the air force to replace models such as J-10A, J-7, and J-8. Moreover, due to its latecomer advantage, the stealth performance, electronic equipment, and language weapon performance of the J-35A will be more advanced

In my personal opinion, only when the WS19 develops maturely and passes the acceptance inspection, will the Air Force be equipped with a large number of J35A. After all, we already have J20 equipped with WS15 and a large number of J16, which is no longer the era when China urgently needed fifth generation fighter jets ten years ago.Is the J35A currently equipped with WS13E (WS21)? Assuming a small amount of production, it may only be used for training purposes.
Similarly, I don't think Pakistan is eager to receive the next generation of fighter jets. They are certainly focusing on equipping the J-35AE with the WS19. The reason why they started promoting it so early is a psychological attack on India, and they have also clearly stated their purchase targets for the next generation of fighter jets. The main fighter jets in service in each generation of Pakistan are not simply foreign trade aircraft, but are the main aircraft equipped in batches by China/the United States. Previously, it was the F16, later it was the J10, and in the future it will be the J35AE

The F-35’s solution to this problem is to carry 4 towed decoys. I guess the towed decoys could have a section added to make them a little maneuverable should the cord need to be detached and the decoy made to intercept the incoming missile. As for shooting down an enemy plane, better to have side bays where a highly maneuverable ever missile can turn to hit the enemy fighter.

Although a directed energy countermeasure (like a laser defense) could be used to blind an enemy fighter pilot if it gets too close and holds still long enough.

He forget to mention that Fatty 35 can do a routine scuba dive that NO other aircraft can.😇
