CPEC News and Discussions

Type of projects we actually need. Good stuff 👍🏻
Many people previously had misunderstandings about CPEC, and I have explained this issue.

CPEC 1.0 needed to solve transportation and energy problems (including water, electricity, etc.). Transportation costs affect the cost of products, and excessively high costs affect the competitiveness of export products and the prices that Pakistani farmers can afford. Energy problems affect the efficiency of production.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan visited China, and both sides have already initiated CPEC 2.0. The Chinese government continues to invest, while companies from both sides strengthen cooperation, promoting more projects to cooperate in Pakistan.

Pakistan attended an investment summit among enterprises, with more than 500 participating companies. These include e-commerce, fintech, artificial intelligence, communication infrastructure, gaming and animation, batteries and energy storage, new energy vehicles and charging facilities, green energy, agriculture, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

That'd be true if Pakistan was Germany, Norway etc.

Coal to urea generally has higher carbon emissions, higher water usage,
exposure to future carbon taxes or climate regulations like in EU. But does that really matter for us? EU is moving towards green ammonia, green hydrogen etc so yes in their context itd become obsolete.

Cheap domestic feedstock is always gonna beat cleaner imports in places like Pk. So sucha project may stay economically viable for us for a long time even if it is environmentally inferior
Your viewpoint is very rational.

First of all, China is the absolute leader in this technology. China can fully transfer the technology to Pakistan.

Secondly, the use of coal is not as extensive as oil and natural gas. Pakistan has a large amount of coal, and using this technology can drive the coal industry. Pakistan is an oil and natural gas importing country; 80%-90% of its energy needs to be imported. Using foreign exchange to purchase energy to produce fertilizer is a luxurious act. India is an example. 89% of India's energy needs to be imported, and India uses natural gas to produce fertilizer, which is very costly. Moreover, currently there is no available energy, and India does not have this technology.

Pakistan does not need to compare itself with EU countries. The EU is an alliance of developed countries with funds for green development. Pakistan should first address the question of whether it has the technology or not, and once economic development improves, then address the issue of industrial upgrading.

As for the pollution issue, I think you can be assured. China has been using this technology and has mature methods for handling pollution.

I think some Pakistani members on the forum originally have unrealistic high hope of the CPEC project. A single project so far involving about $62 billion investments and with only about $30 billion have been allocated now is not going to transform the economy or face of Pakistan, a big country of 240 millions people in short time. What CPEC can do is it can starts the snowballing effect of attracting investments in business and developments that hopefully will transform the country later. CPEC by itself alone is not very likely a game changer for Pakistani economy or developments, the scope is not big enough.

Currently, the true potential of China's electric vehicle industry has not yet been fully realized. Therefore, it's difficult to see and buy truly high-quality Chinese electric vehicles outside of China.

If you're considering buying one and have a sufficient budget, I suggest you wait.

Isn't the world gambling by trying to shift completely to EVs ? Like these things can be easily reduced to inoperable by a single EMP attack.

With respect to security of a nation and it's survival in any conflict and post conflict, is it recommended to completely go towards electric in every sector ?

I know it's off-topic. But still. Wanted to ask.

It is best to change the name of the CPEC thread to "Unpaid Long term Debt"
There is 0% interest by foreigners or Pakistani into any investment in Gwadar

  • 30-40 Year old instability in Gawadar
  • 2021 Imran Khan Government Toppling based on Cipher
  • News of stealing of Land belonging to KPK residents in KPK Northern ares of Pakistan
  • Military operations
It's just not an ideal place to invest

It's a failed project between 2000-2026 , the bureaucracy and Army ate up the potential unfortunately

The toppling of Imran Khan's government sealed the fate of Gawadar initiative

Pakistan
  • Is not safe for Pakistani
  • Is not safe for Chinese Engineers
  • Balouchi families are searching for their lost family members, it is a mess
  • Investment or anything related to finances is not safe
  • If you some how make some money in Pakistan , Crooks are lined up , demanding bribes , tributes
    • Crook bureaucrats
    • Crook bankers
    • Crook federal workers

That is the "Hard State Truth" the fate has been sealed by Hard state believers

In past 2 years I think it is first time I am opening a thread about CPEC or Gwadar

Pakistan is just a army occupied land there is no future for individual people
There representatives pretend show they are doing it for Nation., but the truth is their focus is on personal gains

This much is evident since 2021

People have reported to me saving account holders in Banks are not releasing funding to allow them to withdraw their own money , because Crooks in power since 2021 can't get "Bheek" from anyone

CPEC is not failing because of China
  • It is failing because our Army and Crooks who toppled the government in 2021

Most people who get elected to go to training , or other administrative roles in CPEC are basically , sons and daughters of someone with in government or Military or retired person.

There is no benefit to average person in Pakistan in this arrangement

Pakistan just does not have the right people to make it successful , sincere apologies to our Chinese readers

As Imran Khan , our real official Prime Minister (Currently in illegal detention) stated without honesty a nation can't prosper

China I think did their part , but when it was time to build business centres, and help local population , the same old army goons and their families come forth and hog up all the roles in CPEC , the remaining roles get eaten by politicians

A honest man can succeed even with 1 billion

Here we had access to 62 Billion USD and our Army and Politicians failed miserably

It is what it is ... "CPEC is 100% failed initiative may be it will help china " but for Pakistani people I don't see how it will increase jobs or local benefit

Not China's fault

It is our Army , and crooks in charge since 2021 (Family mafia) we are going backwards into stone age under these entities since 2021

I have 0% complain from China this is 100% Pakistan's greedy higher uppers "GREEDY fks"

I don't view men in Uniform the same way as I did before 2021

Things have changed ...

May be there are "Some" folks with good intent but it is not enough
  • if we follow the money trail , the average Pakistani does not gets anything , since 1952
  • If we will fail as nation it will because of our own greedy people

They are at trial stage with large scale commercial unit in 2030.

A 1.5Billion dollar investment needs decades to be feasible.

Would love to see polymer plant based on that coal gasification though.

Please get a new agreement with Karachi (the worst city in Pakistan and get rid of PPP mafia party who controlled the city many years).

Let's turn this oldest city to Hong Kong or Beijing.
