Diamer Bhasha Project - 4,500 MW

Construction work continues on Diamer Basha Dam - the tallest RCC Dam in the world with 272 meter height.

The Project, on its completion, will store 8.1MAF water, irrigate 1.2 million acres of land, mitigate floods, generate 4500 MW electricity and provide 18 billion units of clean, green and low-cost electricity to the National Grid every year.

Diversion Tunnel-1 | Diamer Bhasha Dam (4500MW)

Diversion Tunnel-1 is a key underground structure at the Diamer Bhasha Dam, constructed to divert river flow during the dam’s construction phase.

The tunnel has an underground length of about 724 meters with a large excavation cross-section of approximately 16 × 16.9 m, enabling safe and efficient water passage.

Breakthrough of the diversion tunnel heading section, including the transition portion, has been successfully achieved at Diamer Bhasha Dam through the efforts of a dedicated project team.

By late 2024, the first phase of the aggregate and batching system came online; by June 2025, the cooling system was fully operational. From setup to operation, the main aggregate system for Phase I was completed in just 70 days.

Today, six batching plants rise from the canyon, linked by 5.2 kilometers of conveyors. This fully integrated supply system—processing and transport in one—now steadily fuels the dam's rise, and stands as living proof of POWERCHINA's ability to deliver under the toughest conditions.

When u say complete dies it mean fully functional with all phases end to end producing 4500mw of power. Is the program 70-80% complete

It will obviously miss 2028 deadline by many years. Only 21% completed as of Feb 2026. My guess is 2032 in best case scenario.
