Designing a hypersonic combat drone capable of shooting down enemy fighters with artificial intelligence

1716616943875.jpeg

The development of the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including unmanned hypersonic combat aircraft, will be increasingly interesting in the future. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), companies are one step closer to achieving this. This is also what Destinus, a new startup from Switzerland, is doing.

Destinus has unveiled two drone programs capable of making shooting decisions.

The first is the Hornet, this drone is designed to destroy other drones. The second is the Destinus G, a combat drone that specializes in air combat, without the need for a human to make a decision.

Destinus presented these two projects a year ago at the 2023 Paris Air Show. This startup, now based in Paris, also works in the military sector. This company was founded by Mikhail Kokorykh from Russia.

Media reported that Destinus initially developed Lord, a drone designed for intelligence gathering, electronic jamming and electromagnetic interception.

This model does not use GPS and is not remote driven. Where artificial intelligence analyzes the terrain you pass through.

Mikhail Kokorykh said in an interview with the Finnish newspaper Yle in January that the company will start producing Destinus G within 3 to 5 years. This drone can serve as a shield against enemy aircraft and subsonic, supersonic and hypersonic (hypersonic) missiles. This supersonic drone can be piloted remotely or operated by artificial intelligence.

Kokorych, originally a Russian citizen, moved from Russia to the United States before heading to Switzerland to launch the startup Destinos in 2021. Michel Friedling, a former general in the French Air and Space Forces (AAE), then joined the startup's board of directors.

Destinus currently employs 170 people and has factories in Munich and Madrid as well as in Hengelo.

Europe's new attack reconnaissance drone is approaching its maiden flight

1716617517785.jpeg

May 2024: The Eurodrone program, an unmanned attack reconnaissance vehicle, successfully completes the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), which is an important milestone in its development.

This programme, led by Airbus Defense and Space as prime contractor, was implemented in cooperation with the Organization for Joint Armaments Cooperation (OCCAR) and representatives from four customer countries, namely France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

Based on the PDR, the Eurodrone's initial design is now mature enough to move to the detailed design stage.

This progress is based on a series of technical evaluations, including wind tunnel testing to validate the aerodynamic configuration, and a comprehensive design evaluation to demonstrate operational capabilities.

With the successful completion of the PDR, the Eurodrone program is now progressing towards the Critical Design Review (CDR).

This next phase will complete the system architecture and design, representing the last major step before production.

The Airbus Defense and Space facility in Manching, Germany is set to be the final assembly and ground testing site for the Eurodrone.

The first flight is scheduled to take place next year, before first deliveries in 2028 under a 60-year long-term contract.

The Eurodrone will be used first by the German Air Force with 21 drones, the French Air and Space Forces with 12 drones, the Italian Air Force with 15 drones, and the Spanish Air Force with 12 drones.

Eurodrone is a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS) that has versatile capabilities and can be adapted to mission requirements.

This platform is very suitable for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance target acquisition (ISTAR) missions or also homeland security operations.

Regarding its characteristics, the Eurodrone has a length of about 16 metres, a wingspan of 26 metres, and a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 11,000 kg, with a payload capacity of 2,300 kg.

The Eurodrone is equipped with a turbofan engine at the back. The flight speed is about 500 km/h and the maximum flight altitude is 13,700 metres.

Eurodrones can be equipped with a variety of high-precision guided weapons, both missiles and smart bombs.

Some Chinese drones, I don't have so many pictures of Chinese drones, because there are too many Chinese drones, probably tens of thousands

A Tribute to the Turkish AKINCI

First UCAV in Aviation History to Perform Barrel Roll

"Autonomous Barrel Roll" is an acrobatic maneuver performed by an aircraft by rotating around its own axis. Although this maneuver is usually seen in piloted aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) require advanced technology and control systems to perform such a movement autonomously

Autonomous Control: This maneuver is performed by the TB-2's own software and sensors, without human intervention.

A first in the world from ASELSAN!

Within the scope of the signed contract, 2 different Turkish UAVs will be equipped with the ASOJ-234U Radar and Communication Electronic Support/Attack (Stand-of-Jammer) payload.

Turkish Armed Forces will gain advanced electronic warfare capability from UAVs for both radar and communication systems.

This integration is a first in the world

AD Systems like PATRIOT , S300/400 , DAVID's SLING , AKASH-NG , TOR , BUK , PANTSIR are easy targets for Turkish UCAVs

Enemy Tanks , Howitzers , MLRS are so easy targets too
Nowhere to hide and nowhere to run

TB-2 UCAVs armed with only 8-16 km MAM-L laser guided munitions in Syria , Libya , Karabakh and Ukraine

Now Turkish UCAVs armed with long range guided munitions and Missiles to hit even moving targets from safe distance
