I think we should now (instead of wasting time on not buying any fighter jet) focus on drones, we can get as much as we want.

Because we aren't allowed the have it on f16 ( we used or still have sparrow bvr but it's old tech now) and rafales , however we do have bvr missiles on mig29
 
There are no J-35 in the EaglesOfCivilisation 2026 exercise, and J16/J16D's s are NOT for sale to Egypt, or anyone.... not "even" to the Egyptians.

Anyway, what will the point be of local joint manufacturing for Egypt given that it has no aerospace industry involved in the design of new planes, or plans to do one etc.. Local
"joint" manufacturing seems like a waste of time and money for Egypt, that it could use to purchase new planes instead.



Even with all these in place, unless it can purchase the J-35AE, it will still be turkey shoot for the IDF IAF to take out the EAF with their proposed F-35 fleet.

It’s better to have tot for experience and independence for r and d and manufacturing, back then folks were complaining about not setting up that method and now when we pursue that avenue people still complain, you can’t ant won’t satisfy everyone.

Egypt wasn’t the first to invent the concept of the stealth naval combatant globally. But it was certainly an early adopter of this philosophy in the region, and one of the most ambitious applications worldwide in the FAC category for its generation.

And for me, the most important thing is what the design reveals about the thinking at the time:Small size and displacement. Lower RCS. Speed and maneuverability. If you want to be successful on how to be successful in building a local industry, take a good long hard look at how Turkiye did it.
Turkey is still yet to develop its own 5th gen fighter jet engines, that’s why they signed and approved Egypts involvement in the KAAN project. To have them co produce simpler parts while they persue harder to manufacture components, while the other half gains access to the know how if making such parts to speed up partial expertise in such field, even if such parts are the simpler ones. In a world of globalized military industrialization, you don’t just “rediscover” how to make stuff, you ink deals where everyone walks away as a winner to gain their interests that eventually leads to self sufficiency in the long run. This has been happening ever since the late 19th century, if not before that. It’s the same idea where countries make deals for rights of manufacturing for bolt action rifles and artillery cannons, only with modern tech and components.

By the logic of buying more equipment that’s better with no self sufficiency, even partial sufficiency, Pakistan should cease all of its coproduction and co manufacturing of the partnered jf-17 aircraft and just stick to buying j10s from China, or continue purchasing regulated f16s from America. But what’s Pakistan's goals? Full or partial self sufficiency in its military industry and in armed forces capabilities.

Turkeys drone industry is a great example of this actually. They didn’t “rediscover or invented” their own models and concepts from a drawn blueprint stage, they purchased gnat 750s from the US back in the 1990s and 2000s to understand the mechanics and operation of what makes a drone fly capable and successful in other aspects of performance. They even leased heron drones from ISRAEL out of all countries. I know, shocking right? From THERE did they go above and beyond to utilize complex mathematics and computing, research and development and funding to produce prototypes to where they eventually got to where they are now, but the seeds of the Turkish drone industry can trace all the way back to American and Israeli designs and that’s how they got to understanding and perfecting drone manufacturing and production with capabilities in mind.

The same logic goes for Egypt for aircraft manufacturing and expertise. No one starts from nothing in this interconnected world. They partner up or make deals to get models to understand them for future sufficiency, or learn production of parts from other nations. So respectfully, we don’t need to look long and hard at how the Turks did it, or it’s not as simple as folks make it out to be. They had models to go off of, same idea here, but with Egypt….and aircrafts. Same thing

Both J-11 and J-16 resemble too much to the Russian flanker, and China has to honor its agreement with Russia to not sell any flanker-like aircraft to other countries.

For now, the best option for Egypt is the J-10C and J-35.

We know Egypt always wants to have a heavy fighter with BVR of over 200 km, then the J-20 should be the ideal heavy fighter.

Maybe China will sell the J-20 once its 6th gen aircrafts are being mass produced in large number.

And we have to see China's weapon export policy in the future.
