Egyptian Armed Forces

I get what your saying about mixed variations of aircraft for utilization of specific strengths while mitigating weaknesses, but tbh if you ask me I don’t really see a reason for the typhoon to join the eaf since they should just stock on j10s while rafales execute multirole missions. I read up on an article about the nasams deal and even though you’ve stated only the r variant of the amraam will be given to Egypt the article I read specifically states the amraam 120 c8 would be delivered as part of the packaged deal, it’s also quite interesting too since the article claims that any amraam can find its way on f16s if they’re past the block 25 model. Iaf uses the amraam d which is still superior to what the article claims what Egypt will be getting with the c8 variant, but it served with the iaf for a long time before the d variant took its place, thus confirming how stout and great the aim 120 c8 is. If possible they could see fitting on f16s to be used against say nations like Ethiopia and its obsolete air force of legacy Soviet su-27s. Eaf operates block 40 and block 52 models, why they don’t upgrade all of them to block 52 mods is beyond me. I personally say just stick with getting even more berghaminis along with the trainercrafts to churn out competent pilots. Eaf wants to keep their MiGs until perhaps 2050 so idk why they don’t upgrade them to the 35 model with the zhuk radar. I get Russias at war now but at least have future plans for the upgrading to be there.
I said that only the Amraam 120 ER is ground to air dedicated.. meaning it is made only for that..in response to you saying that they are all just ground to air missiles..The C8 is air to air and can also be used in ground to air..

Typhoon has many special specs to it..it can be a good western addition..The J-10 and J-35 are something else.. and very important to Egypt..all this is obviously to counter the presence of the F-35 in Israel and to tighten the gap in technology..

Egypt and Italy are looking at military cooperation .. Is the huge armament deal expected at a value exceeding 10 billion euros?

August 1, 2025

On Wednesday, July 30th, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi received Italian Defense Minister Guido Krossito in Cairo, where the two sides discussed ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries, in addition to developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement issued by the presidency of the Egyptian Republic.

The Egyptian Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Abdel Majid Saqr, participated in the meeting, where the meeting dealt with "ways to enhance cooperation between Egypt and Italy in various fields, especially in the military and security fields", in light of the growing strategic relations between the two countries at the two and regional levels.

The meeting also touched on the file of illegal immigration, where the Italian minister expressed his country's appreciation for the Egyptian efforts that have continued since 2016 to reduce the launch of irregular migrants from the Egyptian coast towards Europe, which contributed to significantly reducing immigration flows towards Italy.

Regarding the escalating crisis in the Gaza Strip, the two parties stressed "the need to reach an immediate ceasefire, and the urgent action to end the human suffering experienced by the residents of the Strip, as well as the importance of intensifying efforts to secure the release of hostages and detainees, and start the reconstruction process."

These consultations come within the framework of intense Egyptian diplomatic moves, as Cairo plays a pivotal role alongside Qatar and the United States in mediation between Israel and Hamas, in an effort to reach a truce agreement that ends the worsening conflict and reduces the humanitarian catastrophe that the sector has witnessed for months.

A huge armament deal between Egypt and Italy exceeding 10 billion euros?

In light of increasing but unconfirmed indicators, military and media circles are circulating information about a huge armament deal between Egypt and Italy, which may exceed 10 billion euros, and aims - if completed - to make a qualitative shift in the capabilities of the Egyptian navy and air forces.

The deal includes six frigates of the "Freem Bergamini", along with twenty-four fighters, "Eurofighter Typhoon", and twenty Fire of "Flac 2" missiles, which are expected to manufacture in the Alexandria marine arsenal. The deal also includes a number of planes designated for training and light-mild attack from the Irmaki M-346, in addition to a military satellite, in addition to a military satellite, in addition to a military satellite For surveillance and monitoring purposes, another deal includes more than twenty AW149 helicopters, dedicated to transportation and support services.

There are those who see that this deal came as a reaction to the stumbling of some deals with the French side, but the facts indicate that negotiating this system of contracts dates back to 2014, that is, they were taking place in parallel with the French deals, most of which were already implemented. Accordingly, this deal represents an extension of a long path of military modernization, no improvised step.

In the event that this deal is implemented within three to five years, the Egyptian naval fleet will be qualified to move from just a coastal force to a marine force of deep water, which will enable Egypt to carry out marine tasks in the remote oceans and seas, and may qualify it in the future to possess a large aircraft carrier. Such pregnant women always require the support of frigates and support ships that accompany her in their combat missions, which will provide this new system of naval pieces. Certainly, this deal will be accompanied by other deals related to joint industrialization within Egypt, which enhances the state's capabilities in the field of local military manufacturing.

As for the air force, the joining of European Typhoon fighters will add a new dimension to its combat capabilities. Egypt has an unparalleled air form that brings together Western and Eastern schools, starting from American F-16s and French Fraal, through the Russian Mig-29, and ending with European timing. With the possibilities of joining new Chinese fighters, including the modern Ghinetic G-35, Egypt will be the only country in the world that collects this amount of diversity in its air fleet, which makes it difficult for any opponent to predict the pattern of attack or Egyptian defense, due to the variation of the characteristics and specifications of these aircraft. Each plane has its advantages, its radar imprint, its range and operational height, which gives the Egyptian Air Force great flexibility in planning and implementation. For example, the Rafale is ideal for tasks near the ground, while Typhoon excels in tasks over high altitudes.

Oh god - dont tell me Egypt is thinking of now also buying the Eurofighter ??? Is that another way of saying the Rafale purchase was the wrong choice?

(hopefully random fake news and not a serious proposal ).

"lol" ...

The Typhoon deal was going on for years now..it was part of a $10 billion deal..where Egypt took only 2 Berghamini frigates from the expected 6 and many more weapons and a very sophisticated satellite..

The Russians criticized Egypt's announcement of the defects of the SU-35 fighters, and the Russian side is forgetting that the disputes date back a long time, starting with the downing of Egyptian MIG-29M aircraft during training, which the Russians are replacing. The Egyptians then conducted training exercises with their maximum-range MIG-29M fighters in August 2020. The Egyptians revealed that the aircraft's range was 30% shorter than the Russians announced. The Russians attributed this to the hot weather. This joins the same complaint about the SU-35 fighters, which also relates to their engines, which consume a lot of fuel, one of their shortcomings. One of the countries that acquired the same two fighters never dared to announce the modest performance of these fighters, and even the AESA radar being tested does not exceed a range of 220 kilometers, instead of the usual 260-280 kilometers. The best solution for the Egyptian MIG-29M fighters is to integrate the Rafale M88 engine, which provides a weight reduction of 250 kilograms per engine. In the event of integration, which increases fuel capacity, in addition to the French engine's fuel consumption being much lower than that of the RD-33 MK3 engines, which increases the aircraft's lateral range. In November 2024, the Russians announced that they would develop an 11-ton engine as a replacement for the RD-33 engine. In fact, this will take years for the Russians to reach the level they aspire to. Therefore, Russian products are evaluated based on operational specifications, not the unrealistic specifications announced by the Russians.

As for the 46 Russian-made MiG-29s, it makes people cry and laugh. In 2020, when Egypt tested in the desert environment, it was found that the engine fuel consumption of these fighters increased by 30% and its life was directly cut at 50 degrees high temperature. The Russian explanation is that "the desert environment is really special." Special you big-headed man, Egypt is in the desert.

If your referring to the amraams that are coming along with the nasams deal then I’m assuming that the variant of the amraam used in that surface to air system is only a specific model and isn’t compatible with being integrated into f16 aircrafts. Maybe this is my mind playing tricks on me since we’re so use to being denied weaponry and equipment like that. Maybe I’m coping, who knows, I’m open to it. But it should also be known that the f16s have to be jailbroken from their kill-switch mechanism if they’re in fact compatible with falcon jets. Idk how in the world you’d be able to do that. Perhaps Chinese scientists know a thing or two about that since j10c is similar to the f16 but utilizes different source codes and stores equipment differently with other variations to consider.
Amraams ER is a new missile half of amraam and half of sea sparrow but the amraam-c is the exact same missile used in fighters without any changes.

The AIM-120C8 missiles will not be fitted to Egyptian F-16 fighters. They are specialized in air defense, and the AMRAAM-ER missiles represent a very small quantity for the four batteries and a weakness in the deal itself, which relies on the short-range AIM-9X missile. However, the primary missile in the system for most deals is the AMRAAM and AMRAAM-ER, not the SIDWANDER missile. Therefore, the small quantities of AMRAAM missiles cannot be dispensed with for the benefit of F-16 fighters.

Now, the clashes between India and Pakistan on May 7-8, 2025, have put enormous pressure on the French side, and their flexibility in the area of source code, the integration of non-Chinese munitions, flexibility in manufacturing components and spare parts, and even the modernization of Rafale fighters. Even the material costs of modernization have decreased due to the outcome of the clashes. Hence, the story of the BVR missiles.

French postponement or refusal of an order from the past. Egypt does not announce weapons deliveries. For example, SCLAP missiles appeared in front of a Rafale fighter in one of the hangars. And for this reason it will be like the same way

A Chinese-American struggle to provide the Egyptian army with advanced weapons ... amid Egyptian interest in J-10 and J-35 fighters as possible alternatives to American aircraft

August 6 2025

The American magazine "Newsweek" stated that the military relations between the United States and its traditional allies in the Middle East face a fundamental test, in light of the growing "defense diplomacy" that China is pursued in the region.

While Washington last July approved a major weapon deal in favor of Egypt, China has emerged as a potential alternative source to supply the country in North Africa - which is a major ally from outside NATO to the United States since 1989 - with advanced military equipment.

Egypt has become a clear theater for the escalation of competition between Washington and Beijing, as the last United States considers its main global opponent. Despite Cairo's adoption of years for about $ 1.3 billion of US military aid annually, it remains an important security partner for Washington, despite political differences on Gaza and the growth of Egypt's involvement in cooperation with China.

The Gulf states and the Arab countries believe that partnerships with China do not represent a strategic shift as much as they are a natural right to diversify vital industries and not be satisfied with exclusive dependence on the United States, in parallel with major commercial deals that took place during the era of US President Donald Trump.

The United States gave Egypt the green light to buy advanced weapons that were previously banned, in order to preserve the Israeli military superiority in the region, in reference to the possibility of Washington's position towards its allies in the Middle East.

The US State Department recently approved the sale of NASAMS (NASAMS "air defense systems to Egypt, as part of a deal worth $ 4.67 billion. The deal includes 200 "Amraam" and 600 "Sidewinder" missiles, in addition to radars, launchers, driving and training units.

"The delivery of potential NASAS systems is a major breakthrough in providing advanced American weapons to Egypt, which is one of the most powerful air defense systems in its class."

Since assuming power in 2014, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has pursued a policy of diversifying armament sources amid increasing tensions with the United States, as American restrictions refused to update the Egyptian F-16 fighters, and publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with Washington's position towards the Gaza war and the "displacement" plan offered by Trump.

Cairo has shown an interesting interest in Chinese fighters such as "G-10" and the latest "G-35", which may represent realistic alternatives to American air platforms. Egypt and China also deepened military cooperation in 2025 through joint maneuvers and expanding the fields of defense cooperation.

Last month, with reports of the possibility of Iran - the most prominent regional opponent of America - to obtain Chinese fighters, Beijing announced its willingness to "share its achievements in developing equipment with friendly countries."

Retired Egyptian Brigadier General Sayyid Ghoneim told Newsweek: Everyone should remember American companies' insistence not to lose any buyer, especially at a time when China shows a wide openness, seeking to show that its relations with Egypt are closer to those that bring them together in the United States.

Major General, retired Egyptian pilot, Hisham Al -Halabi, stated in July: “The military message here is that Egypt is still of great importance to the United States, and that military cooperation continues despite some political differences. There is a consensus within the American administration to continue cooperation and modernize Egyptian defense systems.”

"The proposed deal will enhance Egypt's ability to face current and future threats by improving its ability to detect various weather threats ... and the deal will not change the basic military balance in the region."

Egypt and China may soon reveal more details about the planned defense cooperation agreements, after the official visit made by Chinese Prime Minister Lee Qiang to Cairo for two days last July.

By the way it is a tanker with a breastfeeding feature, meaning that is appropriate for the Rafale and the Mig-29
And it has previously provided the Mig-29 of the Egyptian Air Force, it is beautiful that it is able to provide 3 fighters at the same time with the breastfeeding feature
