Ethiopia civil conflict 2020 to present

The rebel offensive seems to have been complete bust.

Additionally, Ethiopian forces are now massing on the Eritrean border !

Ethiopia is a real monster.... they never lost any war.... first they defeated Somalia and then they defeated Eritrea in their first war with them.... they are not even afraid of Egypt the most powerful military of Africa and constructing dam on Nile....

My history teacher told me that Ethiopia is growing economically very fast and they need access to sea.... if Eritrea ever makes any mistake of attacking Ethiopia, this time Ethiopia will capture entire southern coastline of Eritrea.....

Wonder how they will get access to the sea ? Thru Eritrea or Somaliland is my bet

Makes sense when you consider what the president said

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reiterated that securing direct access to the Red Sea is an existential priority for the country's population of over 130 million people. [1]

Current Situation and Demands
    • Abiy Ahmed stated that Ethiopia will pursue a port and maritime outlet through a "give and take" approach and peaceful dialogue, though he stressed that the country's civilization and economic growth cannot be fully realized without it. [1, 2, 3]
    • Neighboring Opposition: Neighboring coastal states—including Eritrea, Egypt, Sudan, and Somalia—have firmly rejected unilateral claims, declaring that Red Sea governance belongs exclusively to its littoral states. [1]
    • Escalating Tensions: Ethiopia recently cut diplomatic ties with Eritrea amidst fears that Ethiopia might seek forceful access to Eritrean ports like Assab. [1]
    • Trade Dependence: Ethiopia currently relies on Djibouti for over 90% of its maritime trade, costing roughly $1.5 billion annually. [1]

Saying that though, The 24 SU-35s china bought were very underwhelming and placed on the back burner. China much more prefers the J10s and J16s over the SU35s.

Maybe another country would like to purchase the chinese SU-35s since China certainly doesn't want them. They were ordered before China had a 5th gen fighter jet long time ago but rarely used

The original Russian-made Su-30 and Su-35 fighter jets in the PLAAF currently serve two primary purposes:
1. Participation in joint exercises with the Russian Aerospace Forces;
2. Serving as "Blue Force" (opposing force) units for the PLAAF.
Occasionally, these aircraft are also used for routine missions, though rarely.
The PLAAF’s Su-30 series fighters have been in service for a long time and have little remaining operational life. Meanwhile, the number of Su-35 series fighters is very small, and they are currently being actively utilized by the "Blue Force" (opposing force) units.
So, China will not be selling these fighter jets.

Well as long as they got some uses for them then its better than sitting in hangar collecting dust.

Frugality and thrift are traditional Chinese virtues—a trait particularly evident within the PLA. As long as their fighter jets remain functional, the PLA ensures they are put to use rather than left to gather dust.

However, "Blue Force" (opposing force) units are highly sensitive, and official media rarely disclose information about them. Consequently, we seldom see photographs or details regarding the aircraft they operate.

In the past, a photograph surfaced showing a PLAAF Su-30 fighter painted in the livery of the Vietnamese Air Force. Given that such an image could trigger unnecessary alarm, we have almost never seen similar photos since.
