With CAS meeting Indonesian PREZ and Air Chief in Jakarta shorty after meeting their defence minister and Air Chief in Pak a month or so back, my feeling is deal is immenent.

You do not have this much high level interaction within a short period of time just to agree to joint training or pilot exchange....

According to PR video, the focus is on joint-training and may be PAF helping Indonesians to develop MD capabilities. Certainly, no hint of any hardware deal. Having said that, it is worth remembering that PAF chief met with not only his counterpart but also national leadership of Indonesia so may be there are some initial stage talks of some hardware deal in future.

So was the Myanmar deal. It doesn't really matter if deal is going through China or Pakistan. As in any case both CAC & PAC will be involved and there is revenue sharing as both co-own the project. In the end, its same product being sold.

You get that whether a deal is brokered via Pakistan or China, it matters little. The work distribution and financials are the same no matter who signed the deal. If China makes a deal they get the same $$ as it would if Pakistan brokered it. The work that CAC and PAC would do would be identical. It makes zero difference.

Malaysia rejected it as it didn't suite their needs, so I wouldn't put too much hope in Indonesia purchasing it.

Reuters has been massively off with its Pakistan reports this year. The otherwise reliable publication has produced a slew of reports that turned out to be either greatly exaggerated or completely off. Not sure if certain sources are deliberately feeding them false information but they have been off the mark too many times with their Pakistan reports this year.
