I used to think like you, then someone said to me "why right does the Queen of England have to so much land? A tribe has the exact same right". Thier ancestors fought for that land and claimed it as thier own - no different to the Queen of England.
I have no issue with mining and REM extraction. I am all in favour. What I am disgusted by in that picture is Asim Munir and his extra constitutional over reach. Shehbaz Sharif has every right to be selling those minerals - Asim Munir does not.
Wherever natural resources are extracted, the common man is screwed. Norway and Libya are the only exceptions that come to mind.
I would say we should try to learn from thier example. Where the natural resources of a land are extracted, the whole nation should see maximum benefit.
1. Refined products should be sold not raw materials (where possible). This brings in more revenue and generates multiple supporting industries.
2. Those who's lands it comes out of should be stakeholders not just compensated. If everyone working on infrastructure projects and gas in Balochistan was Baloch, there would not be an insurgencym
3. The revenue generated from finite resources should be invested for the future, not spent on the present. See Norway and Dubai for excellent examples.
Now I'm not foolish enough to think PTI was ever going to deliver this Nirvana, but I suspect they'd have stolen less than Shebaz Sharif. Even showbaz is going to to watch his fingers around Asim Munir.
So you are justifying Tribal system in a sovereign republic state by giving queen of England analogy? Great.... so basically state within state system with their own laws. This system is no different from vederas or a Cultist society.
The minerals deal happened because of his diplomacy with US and China.
Mind you China has a big monopoly on minerals export, so good luck trying to bypass their approval.
No, common man is not screwed. The common man had absolute ZERO input in creation of those natural resources. Just like tribesmen living near coastal area has no right to claim entire costal area nor economical developments. They should be merely compensated for relocation and thats it.
Okay, thats what I am saying. The whole nation should benifit not just a tribe or a village that happened to be near natural resources.
1. On theory yes thats the best method, but practically its not possible for now.
For example, processing these rear earth require heavy investment close to a billion dollars and tech giants care about their profits so if they dont get low ball offer then they will simply go somewhere else.
2.
Only if they own the land.
Tribal system with their own laws should be abolished in Pakistan. Otherwise if you want to play this tribal game then Afgonis are waiting to claim half of Pakistan as their lost tribe that they would like to have it back.
3. Dubai became rich by making deals with US. Which nation do you suggest Pakistan should sell its natural resources to to become rich like UAE? Yemen? Afghanistan? Or Iran? Because you know America is the evil empire controlled by the zios
My friend its not just that easy for a nation to make a furtune by selling its natural resources. Thats why GCC cant break out of its dependency on US. Mind you Iran is trying to replace GCC but the buyer has its own terms and conditions.
