Government POL prices News and Discussions

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to address nation soon.

The Prime Minister will also inform about the changes in the prices of energy and petroleum products, sources said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday directed to increase the levy on high-octane fuel used by luxury vehicles by Rs200 per litre.

According to a handout from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the development came as the premier virtually chaired a meeting on decisions regarding high-octane fuel used in “luxury vehicles”.

“The prime minister took notice that the levy on high-octane fuel used in the most expensive vehicles should be increased,” the statement said.

Therefore, PM Shehbaz decided that the levy, which was Rs100 per litre, should be increased by Rs200 per litre.

once this crisis is over, can we predict the next crisis, about to hit our economy?

yes, higher and sustained short term inflation as hoarder will find an excuse to not lower the prices

BTW, it is the prime responsibility of government to take ownership of everything

including price control, job creation and punishment of profiteering

sadly, without gov. ownership of the economy, these condition will always persist

Bhutto gov. nationalized the economy, to create jobs for the masses.

we need to usher in nationalization, again!

@Mighty_Dragon_Strike

Hopefully you won't blame the govt for the Hormuz crisis which has caused the oil prices to shoot through the roof?

Regards

please read about 'joint events' in the times of crisis

but problem is, in Pak. crisis never ends

should'nt gov. be responsible?

or are you saying, gov. is not respon. for anything, really!

what are you saying?

120B subsidy??
We are still not out of the mess made by Imran Khan when he decided to break the commitment made to the IMF and gave subsidy on petrol and electricity when he knew he would be removed with the NCV and the incumbent is doing exactly the same thing......all for politics.

Why they keep on repeating this nonsense over and over and over and over again is just beyond any reason and logic. They have to be retarded, there is nothing else that I can think of that justifies this repeated insanity.

Bhutto's Nationalization drive is the reason we do not have Tatas and Birlas and Ambanis and Adanis!! He took away from the wealthiest business families thereby crushing their businesses forcing all of them to leave and start their businesses elsewhere. Those families could have been the driving factor for Pakistan today just like the Billionaire families in India.

Hmm, actually Zia gave back those businesses to the families. Sharif clan is an example of this. Pakistani economy remains in the stranglehold of elite interests which comprises the state's businesses and a few prominent civilian clans, who all scratch each others backs. Sugar mafia is a good example.

If you threaten these monopolies and oligopolies then you will land in trouble, like Mr Malik Riaz, whose Bahria Town product proved superior to DHA and was taking business away from them.

We Pakistanis are inherently dramaybaaz. We still bring up what Bhutto did to businessmen decades ago, but we don’t talk about what they did to Malik Riaz just recently. We don't learn anything from the history.

no sir..

India had 3 large booming industrialized centers

1. Mumbai
2. Ahmedabad
3. Calcutta

Indian gov. handed over majority of such center to there, elite business class after 1947.
this was done, a quid pro quo consideration for a 'blank cheque' offered by such families to Indian politicians

so, no

your understanding, is not quite right

Sharif's were never in the eltie group which were deprived of their businesses under Nationalization; those families left Pakistan for good. Old Business could never return to its glory and we could never make a Billionaire who could assist in the economic growth of the country.
