HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

Really good look at the HAL Assembly line where the Tejas trainers are being built.

Nitin Gokhale confirms in this video that Tejas Mk2 first flight is planned for December 2025 or early Jan 2026 as per the HAL CMD.

Also, Tejas Mk1A has enhanced payload carrying capacity, which implies that the empty weight of the Tejas Mk1A is lower than that of the Tejas Mk1. Good to get confirmation from Nitin since he had just spoken to the HAL CMD.

All dependent on delivery timelines now. How many planes can HAL deliver? How many did they deliver last year? If delivery is really slow, then just skip MK1A and go to MK2? No point having to wait for deliveries in 2030 of a plane like this if rest of the world has gone or is going stealth

If HAL can't do more than 24 a year, we are Freddy Uncled.

There is no need for 24 a year, but contractual agreement is of 16 per year.
Might be happen in next batch of Mk1A, whenever that contract MoD sign.

Rest of the world is not the Indian concern. Indian concern is immediate neighbourhood.

And we know, what we have in the neighbourhood.
Just because a country claims its fighter jet is stealth doesn't guarantee its stealth capability. Former Indian Air Force Chief BS Dhanoa said in a press conference that only the US has a true stealth fighter jet. He also stated that the AMCA would be a genuine fifth-generation fighter jet akin to the F-22. he said that the Chinese J-20 does not meet the criteria of a fifth-generation fighter jet.

We need numbers , it should also be cost effective, modern GAN ew/radar equipped , and Mk1A is the best bet for it. And jets of Mk1A category aren't going anywhere.

Mk1A with low wing loading, line replaceable components, and GE engine gives it ENORMOUS lead over availability rate against the Jf17.
If Pakistan is still producing blk3 and probably will untill 2025-26. I don't see why India can't keep producing a better product aka Mk1A till 2030+.

France is developing the next version of Rafales, which will be ready by the time Tejas MK2 enters production.

Indeed, Even US will be replacing old F16s with modern V-Vipers. 4.5gen isn't going anywhere.
