HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

You deliberately trolling as I already said, Hal Tejas mk1 is already inducted and flying.

There is delayed on for upgraded version " Hal Tejas mk1a" now. And upgraded version testing started within past 2 years

No, I am stating a fact, if you feel that is trolling that is a reflection of your thin skin.

Please no repeat telecast again. Delay delivery of Tejas are already discussed to death.
This think happened if you not Fully capable and develop something if never done it.

I remember Pakistan started 5th gen program and scrapped on only paper after a decade because they are not having any experience to develop even 4th generation fighter inhouse., eve new project of 4.5 gen is impossible without collaboration with china or turkey.

Not sure why Pakistani members are is denied state tha lt approx 35 hal Tejas Mk1 is already flying.

Hal Tejas program for india is not only to develop aircraft in india but build a complete infrastructure so the next future aircrafts can be build. These were many mistakes and hurdles but even after delayed if hal Tejas Mk1a can be produced from 2025, it is still fine since similar capable jf block 3, came only from 2023.

Next biggest task for HAl to produce hal Tejas mk2 from 2029 and AMCA from 2035 onwards.

I also can give example of Arjun tank - I accept that it was a failed project but again it helped to build the infrastructure and it is the reason - new tanks are being developed in faster pace

Again just a lame attempt to milk India by selling a failed and outdated product!

Integration Testing of Homegrown Actuators of Tejas Has Commenced At National Iron Bird Facility of HAL

The integration testing of indigenous actuators, known as "Dalia," for the TEJAS has officially commenced. This marks a significant milestone in India's defence capabilities, particularly in the context of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative aimed at promoting self-reliance in defence manufacturing.

According to leading defence and aerospace journalist, the time and frequency domain to test the integrity of the digital flight control computer (DFCC) with the flight control system (FCS) actuators, and the flight control software version of DFCC under test will be certified by Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC), a regulatory body under DRDO.

The primary actuators (the 4 elevons & the rudder) of TEJAS are the most critical plus expensive components of FCS and are currently being manufactured by Moog Inc, USA. The indigenisation efforts for primary actuators were bestowed upon to Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram by ADA almost 20 years back under the project DALIA (Development of Advanced Linear Actuators).

The production agencies were also identified to be a consortium of Godrej, Mumbai, MTAR, Hyderabad and HAL, Lucknow Division.

"Initially there was a plan to fit in all 13 indigenous actuators (6 slat actuators, 2 airbrake actuators, 4 elevon actuators and one rudder actuator) on to the first TEJAS MK-1A aircraft. But somehow the developmental testing, type certification and production flight of primary actuators had taken the backseat though these actuators outperform the Moog actuators on various parameters and the cost of these actuators is almost one fourth as compared to the imported ones," an HAL official at senior management level, now working with company HQ in Bangalore, confirms.

Another military source say that ADA was asked to take up the integration of desi primary actuators in 2020 and it was ONLY IN May 2024, ADA decided to take up the developmental activity of Digital Flight Control Computer (DFCC) software compatible with indigenous primary actuators with ADE, thus propelling the DALIA dream that started 2 decades ago.

What needs to be investigated is that how ADA and HAL proceeded with the imported primary actuators on TEJAS MK-1A production aircraft when a better set of homegrown systems were available. At whose behest HAL & ADA folks pushed the foreign product on TEJAS need to be investigated.

Integration Begins

The integration tests are designed to validate the performance and compatibility of the digital flight control computer (DFCC) with these locally developed actuators.

This development is crucial as it enhances the operational capabilities of the TEJAS, ensuring that the aircraft can effectively utilise advanced technologies developed within India.

Successful integration testing will not only bolster the TEJAS program but also pave the way for future advancements in indigenous defence technologies, contributing to India's strategic autonomy.

As these tests progress, they will play a vital role in determining the readiness of the TEJAS for operational deployment, reinforcing India's commitment to developing its own defence systems.

Primary actuators for the FCS are by far the most critical and toughest to develop because they directly influence the safety and maneuverability of the fighter aircraft. These actuators are responsible for controlling the fundamental flight characteristics of the fighter aircraft, such as pitch, roll, and yaw. The safety and stability of the fighter aircraft depend on these actuators working perfectly. Any failure in these systems can result in the loss of control, making these actuators the most critical in terms of overall flight safety.

Superb quality 3D model of the Tejas Mk2. This is a highly accurate rendering of how the Tejas Mk2 will look like based on all the known drawings and images.

mk2 version first flight by 2028?

Targeted for first prototype roll-out in late 2025 or early 2026, with first flight in 2026.
Great!
I received some news regarding the Tejas mk1A airframes!
6+2 are in ready state just waiting for engine integration, and there will be at least 14 in the same state at the time of start delivery of engines (they will be out and rolling in couple of weeks)
Can you confirm?
