Hangor Class Submarine | Updates & Discussion

because to retire something, typically youd want a replacement.

the a70s will be replaced with SWATS.

Induction of SWATs will take some time as there's no official final decision or timeline given. A70s are overdue to be phased out. So it's seems that these will be replaced by Hangors. Perhaps not immediately by the first 2 ones. Maybe once we have 4 or 6 Hangors then it will be good time to let go of A70s.

BTW, yeah SWATs would have been a good option to replace A70s, had those be coming in near future.

So in summary, 2 Hangors have already been launched in China and are undergoing sea trails. While, at least 1 Hangor is under construction at KSEW. The first KSEW built unit is expected to be launched around late 2025 or 2026. Sea trials typically last 12–16 months . However, subsequent submarines of the same class may take 8–10 months. Which means, PN might be able to comission 3 hangoor class before 2027, with further 2-3 in sea trails.

Does anyone have any idea, if Hangor possess Anechoic Coating (Sound Absorption)? If so how thick the coating might be ? The only article i found on this was from eurosian times last year.

Speaking to EuAsian Times, Sheikh Akhter, an Indian Air Force veteran and a Warfare & Defense Systems expert, said, “The Hangor Class incorporates sophisticated noise reduction methods such as anechoic tiles, passive/active noise reduction, and an asymmetrical seven-blade skewed propeller. It is anticipated that the 039A will achieve a quietness comparable to other contemporary diesel-electric submarines, making them challenging to detect.

Tiles are on Hangor and upgraded 90b as well.

Anechoic tiles are now fairly common place just as ERA is on tanks.

gathering intel/seeking knowledge
Every day there are reports on both sides delivered to the desks of key personnel on either. These are much more comprehensive and generally more accurate than any speculation here.

That being said “loose lips sink ships” -
Knowledge is more commonplace but so is the urge to go online and talk at an extent.

Especially those with relatives in the military and the fault lies partly with then and partly with the military folk.

Since 2004 on Pakistani forums there is one thing Ive learned - if you know something - don’t say anything until you hear someone else say it.

And then, twist it and mix it up 60% so the actual facts and any potential opsec is so muddled no one can actually tell the truth even if it is plainly written on the page.

Faithfully doing this for 20 years
