Venezuelan crude is actually very hard to refine. It’s extremely heavy and high in sulfur. Only a few countries have refineries complex enough to handle it properly at large scale. India is one of them mainly because refineries like Jamnagar and Vadinar were designed to process heavy sour crude efficiently.
We need sulphur anyway. Industries run on sulphuric acid like there is no tomorrow. so much that China has put up ban on sulphuric acid export.

Chery has no arrangements for direct investment or technology transfer in the Indian market, the Chinese automaker said in a clarification statement on Monday regarding inaccurate reports about its cooperation matters.

The company's statement came after Reuters reported on June 3 that Tata will use Chery's platform to launch its Avinya electric vehicles, and Tata told Reuters in a statement it will leverage the Freelander platform produced in a joint venture between Chery and Jaguar Land Rover in China, with the cars being manufactured at its newly opened factory in Tamil Nadu in southern India.

According to the statement, Chery said it has noticed that recently, many media outlets have cited foreign media reports to interpret Chery's cooperation with India's Tata Group. While there has been some well-intentioned attention, this has also led to a large number of inaccurate speculations, the company added.

"The cooperation agreement currently under discussion between Chery and India's Tata Group is limited to vehicle-related parts supply, including providing auto components. Chery has no arrangements for direct investment or technology transfer in the Indian market," the statement noted.

Expressions such as "platform transfer," "platform authorization," "technology authorization," "technology export," or "technology output" used by some media outlets and accounts are inconsistent with the facts, it said, adding that it sincerely thanks all sectors of society for their concern and attention to the company.

From January to May, Chery achieved cumulative sales of 1.1 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 7.2 percent. Among them, exports totaled 752,755 vehicles, up 69.5 percent, setting a new record among Chinese automakers by surpassing 700,000 in just five months, according to the company.

There is another interesting thing about Venezuelan oil. It is rich in Ni and V, if you use the entire petcoke in the refinery itself the ash that is left behind is far richer in Ni and V than most natural ores. I believe RIL is already working on a project like this.

Looks like a bot pushing the Chinese line. I highly suspect he's a Pakistani using a fake Chinese identity. Don't bother replying to him.

I know it's a bit old but it's worth updating the thread.
Bosch's Bidadi plant is now manufacturing both Lambda (oxygen) sensors and Gen-3 NOx sensors in India. They sit at the heart of modern emission control systems and require advanced calibration and validation capabilities. The Lambda sensor line was added in 2024 for BS6 OBD-II Stage B emission rules and the NOx sensor line was set up in 2025. The NOx setup also includes calibration and software flashing. No wonder Hyundai India has also started localising NOx sensors and other emission related components.

2024: Bosch localized production of Lambda (oxygen) sensors at Bidadi.
2025: Bosch added Gen-3 NOx sensor production with:
multi-gas calibration,
Sensor Control Unit, software flashing, serial production capability.

2027 target: 2.1 million sensors annually including export supply.
