India - US Tariff and Relations | News + Updates

The port of Chabahar is a gain for Iran and a loss for India, just like India built some dams, Afghan parliament building, schools but only to lose them to the Taliban. Everyone seems to milk India because Indians are trying to 'curry the favor' (pun intended!) for geopolitical gains.

Major news, not sure why this is not one of the hot topics right now. Apart from the irony of Modis posturing as a super power being shattered by yet another blow we also know that they used this port as a den to conduct clandestine and terrorist activities on Pakistani soil. A big news if they are pulling out of it.

Aren't India and Taliban best friend again? Clearly not a real loss.
But it is good that Iran has gained from Chabahar. Port will serve its intended purpose.

Ram ram ji,

It seems like a good deal. Lower tariffs than India's main competitors and no immediate reduction in Indian tariffs and India did not have to buy F-35s. A good outcome after waiting out the unreasonable demands.

I don't think so unless this is reduced further and oil is given at discount.

It doesn't seem like India has committed to doing anything immediately. In contrast, US tariffs are reduced with immediate effect.

The discount on Russian crude has been tightening anyway and will disappear altogether if Russia does its own deal. So, better to use the leverage while it still exists.

India faced reciprocal tariffs of 25% and additional tarrifs of 25% for importing Russian Oil. Post from DJT truthsocial says reciprocal tarrifs reduced to 18%. So we still are have to pay 43% tarrif. Correct me if I am wrong.
