Big News: HAL has already built 30 Tejas Mk1A  which means in just a couple of months we will have 2 fighter sqn equivalent of Tejas Mk1A.

HAL has built, flown, and tested approximately 30 Tejas Mk1A airframes (fighters and trainers combined) using Category-B engines for trials, but these aircraft are now parked awaiting combat-ready F404-IN20 powerplants before they can be formally handed over to the IAF

The kind of money no nations sees being shot out of the sky except india. Kudos to providing very expensive aerial targets for our Shaheens.

Around 2003–2007, indians on the now-defunct Pakistani Defence Forum often mocked the JF-17, claiming Russia would never release the RD-93 engine for the aircraft. They argued the JF-17 would spend its entire existence sitting on the back of lorries because China itself lacked a suitable engine to power it.

Fast forward to 2026, and the contrast is striking. India’s Tejas program continues to face engine and broader development challenges, while the JF-17 is battle-tested, operational, and nearing 200 aircraft produced.

The LCA Tejas is 43 year old program and still remains hampered by structural challenge. The JF-17 which was launched in 1995 is now both a domestic and export success story.

This is just a "request for proposal", the French response has yet to come, and even more entertaining will be the "haggling" over the response between what India feel's it little pot of money should bring for its entitled ass, and what the French are prepared to offer for their little pot of money.

It's ironic really when indians bang on about their "4 trillion" economy, you would have thought it wouldn't take them this long. If they're still asking Dassault to guarantee the quality of licensed built Rafales this'll be a repeat of the MMRCA again.
 
It is all BS to keep the masses happy and show them activity is happening but no progress is being made as we all know.

As each year goes by, the Rafale looks older and older....

India may well be inducting Rafales as new platforms when France has stopped procuring them and moved onto their own version of FCAS.

Very poor strategic planning by India for sure.
