Indian Air Force News and Discussions ll

Fostering competition is one thing. Drafting eligibility conditions with the sole intent of specifically excluding HAL is quite another.
8:1 orberbook to revenue ratio is problematic, especially when HAL is the production partner for LCA Mk2 (as well as GEF414) and the CATS project is their own brainchild. Now they have also entered Space launch services sector with full ToT and launch rights for SSLV orbital rockets. Putting all eggs in one basket makes no sense, they've hundreds of aircrafts on order, and anyways for AMCA, brand new assembly line(s) will have to be built irrespective of who builds it, because HAL doesn't have it and existing ones are for Mk1A and Mk2.

Is it more efficient for a new assembly line to be put up by HAL or by Tata/Adani/Ambani /new startup who have no experience making fighter aircraft ? And it is very common for countries to go for a single national champion in strategic industries. The basic problem with HAL is not the large orderbook ( that is a symptom), but a long and consitent track record of repeatedly failing to deliver on timelines.

Their role is systems integration, not making the entire aircraft under ADA/DRDO's handholding. The consortium is made up of companies who already have experience in aerospace production and are global suppliers. Adani is out of the bid and Ambani's Reliance never participated.

There are 3 shortlisted consortiums - L&T with Dynamatic and BEL, TASL (that makes C-295) and Bharat Forge with BEML and Data Patterns.

It isn't common for countries to go for national champions once they become big enough to sustain multiple entities. Those who are trying to consolidate like Russia is due to economic decline from the highs of Soviet Russia and sanctions.

HAL has been delivering aircrafts and engines mostly on time, delays with LCA Mk1A may not be an exception but isn't a norm either.

The AEW systems are our own radars, that take time to make. Social media post is about contract signing.

From A321 to Tejas, seem desperate

Genius, the aircraft are overhauled and delivered for conversion to Mk2 Netra for which contract is recently signed. At least not doing VVIP duties.

"Using same type of planes makes us ahead"

So basically, to sum up all the celebrations and posts, IAF aqquired used airliners right?

Literally nothing is in service is it "genius"?

Obviously as per your psyche you are keen to measure yourself against Pakistan

Difference between the forces and indeed systems is PN or PAF do not send out press releases if they obtain a second hand airliner or fit a tyre onto a plan. The project starts, it gets delivered, we announce.

IAF and HAL seem to start trumpet blowing mere technicalities.

This is itself sums up the main issue with IAF (IA and IN seem more confident and humble), activity is passed along as progress.
