Indian Air Force News & Discussions

Interesting- claims by some posters that the engines were 100% made in India through TOT can be laid to rest. It seems they only got to 54%…
Indigenisation and Made in India are 2 different things.
54% indigenisation means, that 54% of the parts are from Indian companies and they hold the IP rights of those sub components.
Where as Made in India means that even though they are locally produced, they are tied to the OEM in one way or the another, for example the SCB of AL 31 are made in India through ToT but they are not indigenous

MRFA will get scrapped because by 2030 tejas MK2 will come
you nailed it thats the main thing

now they will buy 26 Rafale M for navy and couple of more squads for air force and thats it

rest 40+87 MK1A rest LCA MK II while as things are there might be second coming of SU57 & Su75 if russians sweeten the deal with giving a better deal than GE414 for AL41F engines for Su30 super sukhoi Upgrade and AL51 engine for Su57 & SU75

There's a good reason for it. Titanium components have to be imported from Russia as it is in the contract. Not that there are any other suppliers for it within India anyway.

Much of it is the way the contracts were negotiated at the time of the start of license production. While for the F-414 upto 80% of the engine may be indigenised (if the reports are to be believed), for the AL-31FP, it was much lower.

And when are these 26 + whatever number you're talking of for the IAF (36? 48?) going to be delivered?

Without a local assembly line in India, Rafale fighters are going to come to India 6 to 8 years from now, depending on whether Dassault can manage to build 36 per year or not.

That too, if the contract is signed now before any more customers sign up. Already Serbia has signed up for 12.

Raw material stage means the fabrication of the engine from raw materials, but the raw materials themselves are not produced here.

It’s only a matter of time before we further increase indigenization content, especially now that the Government ...

and here we hear it again this typical blablahblah! 🥱

The point is against some claims here made along this thread several times by the same members again and again it is proven as it is not yet as claimed and instead of accepting it , admitting previous false claims it is again all reduced to "It’s only a matter of time before"!

The point is however we all know, "a matter of time" has a totally different meaning in India in the same way "manufacturing quality" has. I remember still that stupid claim by this funny @Pataliputra guy, claiming "India's manufacturing quality is - unlike Chinese - well regarded top notch and high quality including in the automobile industry"! 🤡 :ROFLMAO:

And still no reply on this Tejas trainer:

For that trainer - the panel fits are so poor- that anywhere where 2panels meet and there is a poor fit - they are using some kind of expoxy to fill in the gaps!!! Highlighted some of them in orange ...
