A steep decline in the poverty headcount ratio during the last 9 years. The poverty headcount ratio reduced from 29.17 per cent in 2013-14 (Projected) to 11.28 per cent in 2022-23 (Projected). Over the past nine years, India has witnessed a remarkable transformation in poverty reduction, with the Modi government playing a pivotal role in this achievement. According to a discussion paper on National Multidimensional Poverty in India since 2005-06 - -A staggering 24.82 crore Indians have emerged from multidimensional poverty. The Poverty Headcount Ratio has plummeted from 29.17% in 2013-14 to just 11.28% in 2022-23, marking a reduction of 17.89 percentage points in less than a decade.-This period saw an accelerated annual poverty reduction rate of 10.66% between 2015-16 and 2019-21, a notable increase from the 7.69% rate observed from 2005-06


to 2015-16 of UPA era. The largest decline in poverty was recorded in Uttar Pradesh, where 5.94 crore people overcame poverty, followed by Bihar (3.77 crore), Madhya Pradesh (2.30 crore), and Rajasthan (1.87 crore).The Modi government's schemes have been instrumental in this progress. For instance, the Ayushman Bharat & PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra are reducing the out-of-pocket expenditure. Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is providing housing to the rural and urban poor, PM Kisan has contributed to more disposable income at hand these all have contributed in Poverty alleviation. According to the paper the drop in Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI is more pronounced in poorer states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, which previously struggled with issues like connectivity and electricity access, is a testament to the effectiveness of these initiatives. the CAPEX push, which drive infrastructure development, have yielded tangible results in these regions., indicating a narrowing of regional disparities. This remarkable poverty in states.All 12 indicators of the MPI have shown substantial improvement, reflecting a holistic approach to addressing the complex issue of poverty. The Modi government's focus on the saturation of schemes has ensured that the benefits reach the most needy, thereby empowering people and enabling them to break free from the shackles of poverty

Niti Aayog Member Ramesh Chand says, " ...The data we have made is on multidimensional poverty, in this, even if a person is uneducated, it is poverty, if somebody's health is not good, that is also poverty, if somebody doesn't have a proper home, electricity connection or water, it is also poverty...from that angle, if we see, in 2014, around 29% people were multidimensionally poor, they lacked these things and by 2022-23, it has reduced to 11.28%...this is an indicator of progress..."

The company has announced a massive investment in excess of $4 billion or Rs 33,000 crore in the country which will go into capacity expansion, battery assembly, development of new technologies like EVs and hydrogen, and also build the R&D and design capability in the country which is linked to the global R&D hubs.

Speaking at the launch of the new Creta in the national capital, Kim said, "Our commitment to India remains unwavering. We recently announced an investment of Rs 6,180 crore. This is in addition to the already announced investment of Rs 20,000 crore towards capacity expansion, new products and a battery pack assembly plant."

If one were to add Rs 7000 crore investment likely to be committed in the state of Maharashtra, Hyundai Motor India's cumulative investment in India will grow to Rs 33,180 crore for the coming decade.
