Trump appearing to stay neutral. I understand his logic as being a 1000 year Hindu/Muslim thing for a long time in general and Muslims have existed for 1500 years and the world has to learn to live with them.
The first real hint that India may not able to escalate this beyond a point, considering international support will be measured.
P.s. Pakistan should not rest on this statement and see it as a wake up call. India, especially under this hindutuva government, will try to keep on a global campaign to undermine Pakistan, and not consider a option to end the underlying conflict; an independent Kashmir, independent of both countries and a buffer between the two. It’s the fastest way for India to shift to focusing even more of resources on economics.

Because your Indian ongoing brutal illegal ownership of the region is what caused mujahideen activity to surge up like it has. I'm not taking sides, but it's the objective truth that you Indians violent genocide attempts to integrate Kashmir has alienated its population to the point they've taken up arms again. There are two parts to this face off, the first is India' bombastic theatrics and "surgical strike" of some description, that will be responded to on a tit-for-tat basisfor its false flag operation. That is the near term actions.
However, there is a strategic imperative here that Pakistan simply cannot afford to ignore anymore, and that is the attempt to undermine the IVT strategically. This is a strategic imperative where balance must be resolved to Pakistans interests, Modi cannot be allowed to get away with his attempt at this 'fait accompli'.
Therefore, Pakistan does need to strategically escalate and force the issue back to the IVT by attacking IVT infrastructure in IIOK such that diplomatic pressure can be forced on India to walk back its attempt to undermine the treaty and for the treaty to be once again treated as a pillar of stability in Kashmir. It does not have to be attacks on the damns directly but can be supporting infrastructure and runoffs, etc.
Pakistan has long range MLRS rockets, alongside SOW and artillery that can be used to this affect, it does not need PAF over operate over IIOK to achieve its goals.
Pakistan has no choice on this imho, and it will cost Pakistan significantly both economically and militarily, but Pakistan must be prepared to pay the cost to do this, te alternative is to accept the fait accompli, which does not strategically serve Pakistans interests. Water is life, it is too important to allow this change to stand.
Let India make the first move, but when that happens, Pakistan needs to move into the driving seat and take control of the flow of events and exert a siginificant cost that forces India back to the treaty. Pakistan needs to accept it will hurt Pakistan and be prepared to pay that cost.
This is a do or die moment for Pakistan.

It's a shame we can't get along.
During my undergraduate years I worked very closely with Indian PHD students in the UK (pharmaceutical industry) and we got along great.
Spoke in our own language, they understand us and we understood them. They went out of their way to help my team (we were all of Pakistani heritage).
I'm saying this publicly to show anyone reading this that we are not inherent enemies. We have rivalry but that rivalry should be like that between the Europeans I.e Britain and France.
Ultimately this conflict doesn't benefit either nation. The resources we spend on war and maintaining our war machines should be spent elsewhere....the sooner we realise that the better.
My belligerent postings are purely aimed at those that wish destruction on Pakistan BTW....so if I've upset any genuine indian I apologise.
