I know and I agree, limited strike is possible but for a major conflict I am starting to believe it won't happen, I mean yes there are some major war machinery that has been moved like Tanks/Arty from both side, but give Indians already lost the element of surprise, Pakistan has already taken defensive positions so any major escalation will cost twice the causalities for invading forces, and as layman in Military strategy even I know if you want any meaningful results you need to minimize your loss but maximize enemy's losses.
Missiles strikes is a possibilities but the return will be proportioned, the next action by India will determined whether the war will escalate or just die down like in 2019.
Very well said, India overplayed their hand this time.

The worst decision they made was to suspend the indus water treaty which left a bad taste in peoples mouths as it is a form of collective punishment.

India also failed to read the room in regards to the growing donor fatigue and war weariness amongst its largest supporters traditionally in the west.

Drunk on it's own power and self confidence believing they had full control of the infosphere, this is where the underestimated that the days of spamming tweets to get political mileage is over, ask the Ukranians.

The west has it's own problems and so do the east. All they got in the end was a well meaning phone call saying 'learn to play nice.'.

Embarrassing, and amidst all this they have whipped their people into such a blood frenzy that without coming out of this in a position of strength will be a tremendous blow to the political clout of our neighbouring 56" chai Walla turned strongman.

A lot of people wondered why we were meeming, and now they will understand why.

But ignore Pakistanis views, Indian economy is worth Trillions and a lot of foreign capital flows through its markets.

Investors are fickle and are easily spooked by uncertainty yes as you will see overall trade at the NSE NIFTY 50 Index has been relatively bullish despite all the screams of war and bombs:

Do the investors know something that the Indian Government wont wish to air in public for fear of denting their pride.

I am willing to bet the reason the market is performing so well is because inside they have been given some reassurance that a large scale conflict is not on the cards and all the bluster is for domestic consumption now that the electioneering topic drama failed spectacularly.

@M. Sarmad and @Aggregate please lets love on from political debates. There is an entire section dedicated to politics called siasat.

Let's try to keep this thread for the geo-political and security issues.

My post wasn’t meant to delve into politics, but with all due respect, (esp) in Pakistan’s context, separating geopolitics from domestic politics is neither practical nor accurate... History shows that whenever political legitimacy is under question, be it due to an unpopular regime or mounting civil-military tensions, heightened tensions with India are often used as a convenient distraction and a means to suppress dissent.... I trust you understand the nuance...

And I trust the management here to resist the temptation of using similar pretexts to muffle dissent or sideline democratic voices....

any meaning to this? seems pointless

He has no content to put out so just drove down and took a picture and tweeted it. Just for clicks and retweets.

Pointless scaremongering. Twitter is full for scaremongering and misinformation bots.

I agree the IWT was indeed a miscalculation, but I believe that was the main aim for this attack, Indian media as usual jazbaat mai beh gaya and they do what they do best, warmongering, and now Govt is trying to defuse the situation by any means necessary.

But there are 2 issues that remains here, 1) How many times we have deal with this kind of situation ? false flag attack, warmongering start and we have to mobilize forces to counter ? 2) On national level what can we Pakistani's do to secure our national interest when it comes to Water? because if India seems to get away with this water blackmail they won't stop in future but in fact they will be embolden by this and continue to do so until the effects of it will start showing up in Pakistan.

I am not in favor of war but I think that Pakistan should take out Indian Dams so not only it will give a clear message and set a red line for Pakistan but also for the international community which will understand that after Kashmir India now has made another nuclear flashpoint with Pakistan that is water.

A direct attack on Indian vital installations will be a declaration of war, civilian infrastructure such as power plants, dams etx are protected under the rules of war so it would be a terrible look for Pakistan if such an act were to be instigated by Pakistan.

Right now Pakistan maintains the element of having been provoked and acused without any independent inquiry or evidence presented before an international committee, that has worked in our favour.

Also in our favour is the present state of malaise in the west. We do need to deal with India's blackmailing nature when it comes to issues you have highlighted which is why I wrote that lengthy post which I am sure no one bothered to read I will link it after this post if you want to read and understand why it is in Pakistans interests to have an India without a BJP government in power.

Don't rely on India public, even their liberal voices bad mouth Pakistan and blame us for every ill, just follow some of the youtubers or non Godi media and you will see that even they have extreme venom against Pakistan, I will see or even consider any change in India if they get rid of Hindutva lunatics from Govt, even that will be only half of the problem because you can change Govt but what about People? Journalists ? Youtubers/social media influencers ? Actors ? Sports people ? India is gutter full of people who hate Pakistani's down to their guts and wants to see us either get killed or die.
I know, every single Indian youtuber that I previously thought was sensible (Dhruv, Deshbhjakt, Shekhar Gupta, Barkha Dutt , etc) have suddenly thrown out so much venom against Pakistan in the last week that I am astounded. Its like they had been holding it in for ages and could not hide their ugliness against Pakistan anymore and just blew up with hatred.

This is why Asim Munir had to remind us of why we separated from them. We once saw some Indian Hindus at a festival in Lahore, when Pakistan's ties were getting better back in 2007, 2008 and while we were excited at the change, my 80 year old grandma got visibly shaken and traumatized to the point that she demanded that we leave the place. Later telling us that "you people will never understand" who these people are. How these Hindus turned from family friends of generations, into utter enemies in a matter of minutes once the attacks began and she and her family in Delhi were amazed at how much hatred the Hindus had been keeping inside them, for us Muslims all this time with nice smiles on their faces. As per her even the few Hindus who helped her family escape just wanted them to leave to Pakistan, even they had no real sympathy for Muslims. Same stories form Gazans who saw the 'nice' Israelis next to Gaza neighborhoods turn against them with utter contempt as soon as they had the upper hand. Asim Munir was 100% on the spot. We have totally forgotten our history and need to be reminded who we are up against. Seeing these few 'youtubers in the last week has reminded me why.

Watched it earlier.

Quite a few interesting revelations. Perhaps the most interesting one was that Pakistan is at odds with individuals running the now defunct Lashkar-i-Taiba, and even TRP. This is a huge statement coming from a former National Security Adviser.
