Why can't the child stay at home and still go to good school? Don't the parents feel sad to see their only child off at a young age? Is it because both parents are working? In that case, it may be a better idea to send the child to a boarding school than find good after school care.
That's actually what happens in Asia. Take Vietnam for example, we also have boarding schools, although perhaps not as prevalent as in China. Vietnamese students typically begin their morning classes at 7 am and conclude around 11 am. Afternoon classes start at 1 pm and wrap up around 5 pm. Following this, many students opt for one or two after-school classes (usually 2) and often go home around 9 pm. After that, it varies for each individual how much additional self-study they choose to engage in, but generally, bedtime falls around 11 pm. So, in a way, there isn't much difference in the routines of Asian students compared to those attending boarding schools.
