Can't people in developing nations just remain in their own countries and make it a better place instead of streaming to developed nations to find better opportunities? Here in SAfrica there's a shyteshow going on with the local Black population kicking out the neighboring African migrants.

The diaspora’s presence is most notable in countries like the United States (5.4 million), the United Arab Emirates (3.6 million), Malaysia (2.9 million), Canada (2.8 million), and Saudi Arabia (2.5 million). Other countries with significant Indian-origin populations include the United Kingdom, South Africa, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, and Kuwait.

Economically, the Indian diaspora plays a crucial role in supporting India’s development through remittances. In 2023, India received $125 billion in remittances, the highest amount of any country in the world. These funds come primarily from the Gulf countries, the United States, the UK, and Canada. For many Indian families, remittances are a vital source of income, and for the country, they contribute significantly to foreign exchange reserves.

Beyond economics, the Indian diaspora has also gained substantial political and social influence. In the United States, for instance, Indian Americans have become an increasingly prominent community. Figures like Vice President Kamala Harris and CEOs such as Sundar Pichai (Google) and Satya Nadella (Microsoft) highlight the remarkable achievements of Indian-origin individuals. More than 20 Fortune 500 companies are currently led by CEOs of Indian descent, underlining the community’s impact on global business leadership.

Culturally, Indian communities have brought festivals like Diwali and Holi, cuisines rich in spices and diversity, and films from Bollywood to international audiences. Whether through yoga classes in Europe, Indian restaurants in New York, or cricket matches in the Caribbean, the influence of Indian culture is deeply felt across continents.
