I appreciate what you're saying but the reality is that incentive structures are not aligned to make these happen. The MoD and military are as 'cut' driven as they come. The only reason some Indian gear is starting to get bought is that Modi outright banned a bunch of imports. Even then domestic companies are paying the powers that be to get their stuff bought by the military/MoD.

Let me put it this way, Indian equipment would be bought if they match the 'speed money' that the foreigners pay. Now as Indian corporates are doing well so they've started to as well. But it really boils down to this.

Tata Motors says it will not disclose the cost of development but says the Kestrel was built ground-up in a year and a half, with funds coming from the Rs 4,000 crore budget that Tata Motors sets aside for its standalone business every year. Ordnance Factories got the First order of 155 mm 45 caliber Dhanush And Upgraded 130 mm ie Sharang guns which were converted to 155 mm 45 caliber

After that ATAGS is getting orders

Ive spent enough time in the US to know these are implemented through greater awareness and education.

It comes through cultural change and willingness to use local even if not perfect.
In a way this QUAD situation and sudden openness of the US is damaging to this cause but it also provides the opportunity to bring back knowledge and keep improving locally.

After all, if TATA can now compete with products in the civilian market after buying JLR then maybe that is where one puts money next into defense. Pay the SME’s abroad / bring them home and teach people. That’s how the LCA CLAW team worked and that is how you convince your military folks that like fancy foreign toys that Dassault is as much a brand as it is capability.

You can bring the capability , but your own brand - tarnished by the British to make you think you’re second class humans incapable of producing anything good… it’s up to you to love and nurture.

Its not a new thing, products are offered right when India is on cusp of making something unavailable (unless its strategic in nature). However why should we blame West, when the culprits are our own?

The concerned still want 'Faarin Maal with trips', as Faarin is better than Indian right?

Best way to deal is Indian entities paying these people with Faarin trips maybe, who knows.

Javelins are best in their class with fire & forget capability. Look at the Ukraine war for results.

I believe USA denied Indian license for ToT to manufacture 80,000 Javelins in 2016

It does not hurt to have few thousand Javelin missiles for special forces and elite army units. Some Javelin operators do that.

Nothing in Javelin purchase would prevent India from working on their domestic anti-tank missiles.
